Anarchee
Hello I recently bought a MacBook Pro, and have been very impressed with Mac OS X. I'd like to install the OS on my desktop computer, which has the following specs: AMD Phenom X4 GP-9850 2.5GHz quad core 8GB DDR2 RAM GeForce 8800GTS 512MB graphics card Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 motherboard Intel PRO 1000/GT gigabit NIC I tried installing first iDeneb 1.3, but it kept rebooting after installation, never actually managing to get into a usable state. Then I tried one that seemed to be specifically tailored for Phenom, LawlessPPC-Leo 10.5.4 Phenom. It got to the point where I could see it booting, and when using -x -v, I could see the text flying by, but once it got into graphical mode, it just stopped cold right there. Any suggestions, anyone? So far, I've been using Linux on this machine. I was thinking of dual-booting... elale500
I got that version working on the same processor but a (cheap) ASRock K10N78FullHD-hSLI R3.0 Mobo. I installed to external HD using my macbook and then I transfered the disk to the machine using a SATA connection (It did not want to boot from USB, kept saying "waiting for root device"). The chipset is a GeForce 8200, no audio, no network, so I'm using a network PCI card. But it is ways faster than my Macbook. I'm working on the audio, let's see if a real dump of this ALC662 can do the trick. Did you set SATA AHCI in the BIOS ? that may work. There is a guide for Phenoms here, check it if you can. Anarchee
I searched around and found a torrent called Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.1 for AMD SSE2/SSE3 (32bits), downloading it now, too... let's hope this works. burdenofhate
I've got the same issue. I'm on an AMD Phenom Quad-Core and I've tried ideneb 10.5.5 and kalyway 10.5.2 with no success. It keeps getting caught up at CODE SIGNING on HD boot and just stops. That's the furthest I've gotten. So, best of luck. PM me if you find out anything helpful! Anarchee
Will do, I'll try a few more distros. Tell me if you get any progress, as well. =) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/139606-osx86-on-amd-phenom/#findComment-989111 Share on other sites
Anarchee
Ok, I just tried installing Leopard-AMD-10.5.1, which I think is a Zephyroth release. When I try booting, all it says is: System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Anarchee
Which particular thread? There seem to be multiple of them focused around that. I just tried starting Leo4all with the CD, since it said so here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/B0_error It started booting, then the screen went black. I could hear the bootup music, but I couldn't see anything on the monitor... Well, progress, I suppose... Anarchee
WOOHOO! =D I managed to get Leo4All 4.1 installed and working, I had to turn on something called NVkush in the installer. =D Anyway, now I need to start making stuff work... Networking (Intel PRO/1000GT) and USB, so far, don't seem to work. Suggestions, folks?
