hello,

I have the following issue on my mac pro with OS Leopard 10.5.2

I want to add a user account, with aprtial privileges and to be monitorized by the main ADMIN account.

logically, it is to open the SYSTEM PREFERENCES pane and clicking on the item ACCOUNTS.

but the item ACCOUNTS is not in the SYSTEM PREFERENCES pane.

how can I sort this out, please?

thank you for your help

boa tarde

eu tenho o seguinte problema no meu Mac Pro.

thank you.

I will try it out.

i have already managed to set up the admin account through the os x install disk.

now I want to create the second user account.

hopefully this will do it.

and, yes, I recognized I am a noob

;)

thank you for your time in replying.

I have no doubt left about time machine and the external hard drive.

i manageged to create new user accounts and I tried the parental control solution...what happens is that it opens a "second" desktop with simplified finder and without access to the main software, like CS3, although I cicked on the specific apps the user could access.

what I need is the folowing:

a) admin account with full privileges (already created)

 user account with partial admin privileges, like install and manage applications, but who is under control of the main account

i have tried the parental control option but it creates a second desktop without access to the main software, like CS3, although I cicked on the specific apps the user could access, and also without access to the folders of all documents, images and so forth.

i have also tried the guest account option, but i get the same result: a "second" desktop with simplified finder and without access to the main software, like CS3, although I cicked on the specific apps the user could access, and also without access to the folders of all documents, images and so forth.

basically i want somebody that can log into my os desktop and use all my software and applications but not being admin, so that I can have a report log of what files are created, modified, moved or deleted.

ading up to my post:

I tried creating an user account as : STANDARD, ADMIN and GUEST.

all of them when they log into their respective session, log in to a different desktop with only the mac os apps available...

all the other software installed or applications on my dock (when I log in as admin) are not there
