MPC561
Hello, today I got my EEEBox B202. I was also able to install Leo on it as Dualboot System with XP. Under Xp I removed the Data Partition of 109 GB. I created a new primary partition of 89 GB and an Extended Partition with 20GB (for time machine). The I installed the moded bios for EEEBox B202 from here. I do not know if it is neccessary but for my netbook (the 1000H) it was. The the Leo installation. First I tried it with the MSI Wind ISO Image but I was not able to boot into Install Screen, the same with iDeneb 10.5.4 and Leo4all V3 and Kalyway 10.5.2. iDeneb 10.5.5 booted at least into the Install Screen. With the disk utility I formated the 89 GB Partition, named "LEOPARD", with MacOS Journaled. I think I choose the correct fixes (ICHx fix, remove firewire, ALC888 Sound kext etc.) but after installation I got a kernel panic at reboot. At least it runs with the good old Kalyway 10.5.1 distibution. Ethernet runs out of the box, GMA950 kext I installed after I upgraded manually to 10.5.3 and now graphic is also working with QE. I´m now looking for a ALC888 ICH7 kext and I will test the Ralink driver I used for my 1000H soon. Has anybody already expierience with the ALC888 on the EEEBox and can give me a hint where to find a working kext or other good hints (like upgrade to 10.5.5, I miss this combo update fom Kalyway )? UnaClocker
I have an Abit IP35-e motherboard with ALC888 audio. I've attached the codec dump for it. Use that with the Taruga patcher and you should be golden. alc888.txt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138780-something-concerning-the-eeebox/#findComment-982163 Share on other sites

ed2k_lmts
I use iDeneb 10.5.5 on my eeebox and finish installation and boot well. When you installed and boot then VGA and ALC888 could not be used. I got my friend AppleIntelGMA950.kext and AppleIntelintegrantedFramebuffer.kext and replaced mine kexts and del mine Natit.kext. It work well but audio not. I try many ways and kexts, I found some ways can make my osx know audio vendor id and show speaker icon but unfortunayely eeebox no sound. I choose the correct fixes (ACPI, ICHx fix, remove firewire, CPUS=1-FIX, KERNEL 9.4.0) Maybe all friends can tell your experiences to setup our eeebox using osx. (My English is not good, don't laughing.) MPC561
Hi, try this package, it worked for me. But only for the rear output. The front output is not working! http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=24854 If this also not works I propose you to buy a simple USB to Audio adapter. Price is around 10 Euro. MPC561
Here is a download package: http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/local--files/i...V0.8%20BASE.zip Extract it and start the "Kext Helper" application. Then drag and drop following kext inside the "Kexthelper" application: AppleIntelGMA950.kext and AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext. Then insert your admin password and press easy install. After it has finished reboot. The the graphic should work. Install no other package! The packages are normally made for the Asus EEE PC 1000H and not every kext is working with the eeeBox, some break them. PS: There is a second download package: http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/local--files/i...%20OPTIONAL.zip In this you can find the "Time machine fix" inside is the IONetworkingFamily.kext. Install this also using the kext helper apllication. There is also a "speedstep fix". With the kext and the application inside you can activare speedstep. With all this you can be very happy with the eeeBox. Now I need only a fix for sleep :-( -- With kind regards, MPC561 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138780-something-concerning-the-eeebox/#findComment-990274 Share on other sites

santalucial
is there a way to have the network recognized as wireless and not as ethernet? ianchao
I got a EEEBox, too. Everything works fine within OS X 10.5 except the front audio input/output. Hope someone can figure out a workable driver for the front audio I/O, that'll be a great X'mas gift Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138780-something-concerning-the-eeebox/#findComment-990845 Share on other sites
MPC561
I do not miss the frontmicrophone because I mounted a Logitech E3500 Webcam for Skype on my LCD Screen. This Webcam has a built in microphone. Both are recognized by OSX so skype is also working for me. :-) Btw. Have you tested if the optical out is working with OSX? It would be interesting if you plan to mount the eeeBox as a kind of multimedia station behind a LCD television and then 5.1 would be sensefull. @Santalucial If you replace the internal miniPCI Modul with a BCM94321 modul (around 20 Euro via Hongkong export for me here in germany), then this one is recognized as "Airport" without additional driver installation. (I made this with my Asus EEE 1000H and it works very well.) But on the eeeBox it is much harder to reach the miniPCI card. mik_schreiber
i've installed the kext for gma950 but after boot the eee box shows the boot screen and then the screen gets black "no signal" - i am using dvi. Does your eee box run wirh dvi? does anybody have an idea about my problem with the graphic card? MPC561
I´m using DVI too. No problem with 950gma and Integrated framebuffer kext. Are you sure that you have not installed other kexts from the above mentioned packages? Some of them have exactly the same behaviour after installation like you mentioned. Alternatively try another LCD Screen. PS: Nochmal in deutsch. -- MPC561 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138780-something-concerning-the-eeebox/#findComment-998662 Share on other sites
nexus1
Can someone do a N00b write up on how to install iDeneb 10.5.5 on an EeeBox? On direct boot I just get: SAM Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, SENSE_KEY = 0x06, ASC = 0x29, ASCQ = 0x00 and it never gets to the initial setup screen. If not, can someone point to a How-To? sderenzi
I have an Eee Box B202. I might be interested in trying this since Eeebuntu didn't work to my expectations, I expect most linux distros wouldn't. I was going to try Mandrivia but gave up. Anyways alot of what you've said here is confusing, perhaps you can tell us noobs how we'd go about doing this with a standard copy of Leopard. I know you mention modified versions you got somehow (probably off bit torrent) but which of those really works and is most updated? Another question I have, if users update OS X with it's update function wouldn't that really break the distro? So far alot of what you've been mentioning is really beyond me, I could format my HD but then what else? Does Leo support the Eee Box B202's functions or what sort of hacks did you use. Hell they don't even sound like hacks, it sounds like you actually reprogrammed stuff Also I'd like to know was it worth it, how much better than XP Home did it run (I'm using Pro). I mean listen, is it worth it when I can patch uxtheme.dll, get cool themes off deviantART, slipstream XP using RyanVM's Integrator, etc. Is OS X that much better? I don't imagine I can play any games on here really, I'd like to try Total Annhilation, so far Duke Nukem 3D High Resolution Pack works great though! I was surprised, it runs without a hickup. Well anyway that's my thoughts, otherwise I've no idea what else to think. The comments here aren't fully understandable by me. Methanoid
A DFE-Boot and Kexts package for a RETAIL install would be great if anyone has it solved? DVI and VGA ? Does this NEED the modded BIOS? Anyone tried without it and succeeded?
