Hello,

I have a computer with the following specs:

Systemax AOL Optimized PC with the following upgrades

-Nividia Geforce FX 5200 Video Card

-512MB of memory (1GB memory is on the way)

-100GB hard drive

That I would like to turn into a Hackintosh. What OSx86 version should I use? I have already tried iATKOS, where the installation runs painfully slow, and Kalyway, which had a burning error, and therefore shows me a bunch of errors while it is booting. Should I try Kalyway again? Or should I try another OSx86 product? Also, with OSx86, will I be able to install mac applications on it like Office 08 and iLife?

Thank you!

Intel

You need to provide more information about your system such as your MOBO brand/model and MOBO chipset, as well as your CPU (Intel or AMD) spec etc. See forum members signatures as a guide..... This way you can be helped more fully...... -_-

I don't know how to find out all of that stuff.

EDIT: I used Windows Device Manager and found out the following.

My motherboard is made by VIA. I don't know the model number.

My processor is an Intel Celeron CPU - 1.70GHz

VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter (I'll need a driver for it)

To run OS X your CPU should be SSE2 orSSE3 capable and preferably EMT64 capable......use CPU-Z to find that out......with a VIA chipset MOBO you should look at this thread....... ;)

OK. The Kalyway disk keeps going through the Darwin routine where it starts it up, then restarts right away, and then does it again. Where can I get a working copy of Kalaway that works with this, and how can I apply theStevos patch to it?

I would start by checking your BIOS settings but as I do not know your BIOS parameters, just see if you have these (you may not have all)

Execute Disable Bit [Enabled]

ACPI APIC Support [Enabled]

ACPI Suspend Mode [s3] or [s1] or [s1 and S3]

Configure SATA as "AHCI" or Serial-ATA Configuration [Enabled]

JMicron SATA / PATA Controller [Disabled].....if JMicron present.....unless it works for you [Enabled].....but JMicron is known to cause problems for some....but JMicron patches for OS X Install DVDs are now appearing......

JMicron Controller Mode [AHCI]....if present.....

Try booting with -v -x platform=ACPI|86PC -legacy and report what you see on the black bootup screen......

Details on how to apply theStevos patch to it are detailed here I recall.....

Thank you for your advice. I will try the BIOS settings. I don't have a working OSX install, so is there another way I can apply the patch?

PPF-O-Matic can be downloaded and run in Windows to patch the OS X Install .iso file before you burn the patch .iso file to DVD.......search Google for a download.....

I am continuing to see just lines of code running across the screen. I have a video of it, which I am currently uploading to Mediafire.

I went down to the computer a little while later, and just saw my BIOS splash screen. I'm going to try the 10.5.1 disk with the patch tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.
