ottoman1384
This is what I get when I try to use sudo in the terminal: sudo: can't open /private/etc/sudoers: Permission denied I can't run anything using sudo. I repaired permissions and this is what disk utility reported: ACL found but not expected on "private/etc/sudoers". ACL found but not expected on "private/etc". Group differs on "private/etc/cups", should be 0, group is 26. Permissions differ on "private/var/spool/cups/cache/rss", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are drwxrwxr-x . Permissions verification complete I have no idea what I should do. This is on a hackintosh using boot132 cd. any help would be greatly appreciated. is it possible to archive and install using the leopard dvd and boot 132? i think that might be my only avenue to fixing this. It sounds like the account you are attempting to sudo on is a "Standard" user rather than an "Administrator". Check the Accounts System Preference. If you change this, you should have sudo access. Also, for some stupid reason, mac os x does not come with root account enabled. Use "sudo -s" then set the root password using "passwd root". I had the same permissions problem. whenever i tried to log on to internet it froze. It would load after running Disk Utility but i always got the message Group differs on "private/etc/cups" should be 0, group is 26. I also got "Private/var spool/cups/cache/rss" should be drwxr-xr-x... The solution is simple. Just turn off printer share so networks cant share your printer. System preferences/Internet & network/sharing good luck, it worked for me Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/138469-sudo-permissions/#findComment-1009985 Share on other sites

I am still getting the same permissions messages although i no longer have problems when logging on. I cant explain this but thought that i ought to keep you informed. I no longer have the permissions error messages. I have restarted my macbook a few times. I have logged on to the internet a few times and run Disk Utility. There no longer seems to be a problem. So the solution could after all be turning off the printer share option.
