XIPE
Ok so I'm very new to all this........I have a 250gb hard drive and I made a new 10gb partition and set that partition to active.......then I restarted my PC and the installation of MAC OSX came up but when it asked me which drive would u like to install Mac OSX in nothing came up What am I going wrong? Do I have to make that 10gb partition into something like a FAT32 or NTFS? I'm currently using a Dell XPS 600 Desktop Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13743-installing-help/ Share on other sites
Colonel
you have to use the disk utility to format the partition you made to the mac file system. insert the install dvd and go to screen where it asks you to choose a partition. then go to the menu bar on the top of the screen, i think there should be a option that says tools or something, then choose disk utility. disk utility should show up on your screen. then you select the partition you made and click format with Mac OS X Journaled. once that is done, your disk should show up at the install screen. hope that helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13743-installing-help/#findComment-87386 Share on other sites

Colonel
It doesn't matter what format you make it because disk utility will go and change the format to the Mac file system anyways. I recomend NTFS or FAT32. They seem to work the best with disk utility Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13743-installing-help/#findComment-87398 Share on other sites
