ahmad al-ansary Posted November 19, 2008 Share Posted November 19, 2008 Yes, me too. I had Kalyway 10.5.2, I struggled to make it work, but all I got was the VESA driver. I had my screen resolution fixed at 1024x768. I tried almost every suggested fix. I modified com.apple.Boot.plist to force the resolution, I added my device ID 0x71451002 to the ATIRadenX1000.kext/Contents/Info.plist. No matter what I try, I only can use my computer ONLY with VESA. I was tired of my trials with Kalyway, I downloaded iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5, it looked promising from the installer stage. I also faced problems. When I first rebooted my machine after installing, I was presented with vertical green bars, I then forced the resolution to 1280x800x32, I got passed this issue, and for the first time ever, I watched the welcome video. After the video, the machine hangs. I then tried to set the refresh rate, 1280x800x32@60, I have a new problem now, I always get "you need to restart your computer, press power button...". I get pass this when I delete the ATIRadeon* from /System/Library/Extensions. I red a thread that suggested to remove GE* and NV* from the Extensions folder, I did that too, but to no avail, no progress at all. I also deleted all ATI*, before that I made a backup from ATIRadenX1000*, after that I restored ATIRadeonX1000*, tried to restart, but I got "you need to restart..". If I delete ATIRadeonX1000*, I can login normally to VESA. This is really frustrating!. Now, I think the problem is around the injecter, or what it is called. Or, it is in the kext itself. It may be the kernel. I don't know for sure, but it gotta be some thing that I'm missing or doing terribly wrong. I run x1400 in a Dell Inspiron 6400, Core2Duo, (uname -a):9.2.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Sun Mar 2 00:11:08 SCT 2008; made by ToH:xnu-1228/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 I boot using cpus=1 -f "Graphics Mode"="1280x800x24@60" I hope to find some help, please. I mean can you guide me with the file names and what exactly to do with each file. What is the required files, and what is files should not be present in the Extensions folder to avoid conflicts.
