Hey guys... I bought today Logitech's Cordless Desktop MX3000 and I was wondering if someone else has succesfully installed OSX with this setup...

I tried myself, but it didn't work. It doesn't recognize the Desktop at all. Both devices use PS/2, but I don't think this is the problem.

I've used several different Logitech wireless keyboards to install 10.4.1, 10.4.3, and now 10.4.5, BUT I've always used a USB-connected wireless receiver and a wired USB mouse. Doesn't the MX3000 give you the option of a USB connection ? In my case the keyboard is recognized immediately upon power-on, so you can use the keyboard to enter BIOS, set boot parameters, etc..

Note that Logitech is promising, but has not yet released, OSX Universal Binary drivers for their wireless keyboards. Until the drivers are available, the "extra" keyboard buttons generally won't work except for volume/mute and sleep.

If you MUST use PS2, recommend you post again with details of your hardware & the exact version of OSX you are attempting to install, and someone may be able to help.

This doesn't really answer your question, but I was able to install 10.4.5 on my system today and it recognized my Logitecth MX 5000 Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo without blinking an eye. I was pretty stoked about that!

Now if I could just get Acronis to recognize the MX 5000 I could unplug the ancient HP keyboard that is needed to navigate OS Selector :-)

  • 9 months later...

I am running 10.4.8 (Semthex 8.8.1) with the PCGenUSBEHCI kext

I also have a Logitech MX-5000 Bluetooth KB/Mouse

My system does not seem to recognize the Bluetooth USB dongle (which came with the KB/Mouse).

Can anyone suggest what is wrong and/or how to fix?

Thanks,
