hey guys

i want to thanks to InsanelyMac website first

last week i didnt know anything about mac

today i am running leopard 10.5.5 + security upgrade + safair 3.2 on my pc

here is my machine

E-6420 intel 2.13

2GB corsair xm2 ram 800

Asus P5K-E motherboard

sapphire HD 2600xt

40GB IDE hard drive (yes i know it is small but just wanted to try it first)

Asus sata DVD burner

ok i didnt tested all the software yet because i am still getting used to the MAC os

but i am running safari, play music, and burn dvd

here is how i did it

you will need to burn the iATKOS v4i ( i know some might ask me where to download, i had the same problem before, but you can easily find it when you google it) dont download iATKOS v4a - it doesnt work i think it is for AMD (well it didnt work for me)

follow the steps to install iATKOS v4i

the only driver i installed from iATKOS is the HD2xxx for ATI

i didnt choose any Lan or audio driver

after installing the leopard 10.5.4

it should take between 15~30sec to boot up and it should not have LAN or Audio of course

so you will need to find IONetworkingFamily.kext file (it is driver for you LAN ) from Google - try to find a couple different ones some work some didnt

also you will need find a fix file for P5K-e ( the files should be p5ke_leopard.zip )

unzip that one but dont install it (the only file you will need is the driver for audio inside = AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

this is the driver that work for me for audio ( i didnt test my mic loh)

there are lots of instructions on installing or using terminal to crack or install driver

but i found out the easiest way is using Kext Helper b7

you just drag the driver file or xxxx.kext to the Kext Helper b7 and it will install it for you

so you forget about permission or repair stuffs

i installed the driver one by one

first try the LAN driver

and boot it and try it if it will work

and you should be able to surf the net by using safari

after try to install the Audio driver

boot it and you should be able to hear sound after reboot

now your machines should run ok

if you have issues with SHUTDOWN OR SLEEP like i did

do you have more than 1 hard drive or do you have usb flash memory connected or hard drive?

i have 2 hard drive installed in my computer

1 is the 40g that i installed the leopard

and another 320GB for my windows

but when i boot with leopard

it will shows both hard drive on my desktop

but sometimes when i try to shutdown it will do it

but my fan and lights on my pc are still on

try this _ it works for me

before i shutdown or try to put it sleep

i EJECT my other hard drive ( window )

then shutdown

so far it works for me, i dont know the problem

but if i eject my other hard drive than the apple or USB flash memory or hard drive

it will shutdown ok or sleep ok

i did try to use all other shudown fix or powerdown fix but doesnt work

the only thing i realize is like i mention above

so try it might work for you

now to update to 10.5.5

download the file from Apple

now this instruction i found it on the net

so follow it and it will work for you as for me

. First, download the update directly from Appleís website. You can grab 10.5.5 at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/appl...1055update.html

2. Before you run the downloaded file, open up Terminal and type "sudo su -" without the quotes. Enter your user password and then type "while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done" without the quotes.

3. Keep this window open while you run the downloaded update and install it

4. Before you reboot, exit the Terminal script by holding down Ctrl and pressing X (Ctrl + X). Close Terminal and hit the button on the Update to reboot your computer.

5 Done

now it should work but i think your lan and audio might have to reinstall it again

now you can upgrade your safari to 3.2

so now my computer is running good

well i think

the only thing i am worry about is the VIRUS

but they said MAC doesnt have but who knows ????????

hope it will help to someone

ah forgot to mention

about the security update

i dont know if you need to install it if you upgrade to 10.5.5

but i did try to install the SecUpd2008-007.dmg from Apple

just to see if works

and it installed ok

but i think you dont really need to install the security update because the 10.5.5 is newer than the security update

or anyone could let me know if i am right or wrong?

thanks

just to be sure

my boot up time without counting the bios loading

just the Apple logo pic, is about 15 sec

and when everthing ready to use is about total of 20 sec

is that concider fast ? slow? can anyone let me know their bootup time?

also shutdown is about 5~10 sec to off

for me it works great because compare to XP or vista man !

that is way faster
