Hellmonkeys
I used the iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5 disc to install OS X, and it installed fine, however, when I try to run it, I simply get stuck at a certain point for apparently no reason. It doesn't seem to kernel panic or anything. Attached is the screen for which I stop booting at. I've also tried booting with -x, and it does the same thing. Anyone have any ideas? My system has an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, cheap Intel ICH7-based Motherboard, NVidia GeForce 9600 GT, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/136672-unable-to-boot-os-x-installed-fine/ Share on other sites

Hellmonkeys
search on google for " using 16384 buffer insanelymac" it is a well documented error! SticMAC Thanks for the help, I was able to get past that issue with the ACPI-Fix on iDeneb v1.3 10.5.5. However, I now have the following problem in the attached image. Again, no kernel panics, just some random DNS errors and such. Any ideas? Gujal
I had a similar problem that iDeneb would install fine but would refuse to boot. Here is what I did. Your mileage may vary. My machine has a 6800GT display card. 1. Boot into single user mode (-s option on bootloader) 2. Enter the following commands /sbin/fsck -fy / /sbin/mount -uw / mkdir /Backup mv /System/Library/Extensions/NV* /Backup reboot 3. Now at Bootloader prompt, use -f 4. This should boot and let you finish the Apple Setup. You will be using VESA mode so no QE+CI yet 5. Use OSX86tools and install the Graphics string for your Display card 6. Use KextHelper to install the NV* kexts from /Backup directory 7. Reboot 8. After reboot you should now have full QE+CI Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/136672-unable-to-boot-os-x-installed-fine/#findComment-968372 Share on other sites
Hellmonkeys
Thanks a LOT Gujal! I removed the NV* KEXT's and I got it to boot into VESA mode... cool. But, I'm sorry I'm stupid with this, but what do you mean by this: 5. Use OSX86tools and install the Graphics string for your Display card I have osx86tools installed, but what do you mean graphics string for my display card? EDIT: So, I found where to enter the GFX String for the EFI boot. However, my graphics card is not listed in the drop-down list. So, I tried doing custom GeForce, but that didn't seem to work either. For the record, I have a GeForce 9600 GT 512MB. Any ideas?
