treleung
I have 10.4.5, I know theres a HCL I'm looking at it but it doesn't give prices and/or full descriptions. I'd like a sound card(specifically USBs) and an ethernet card that will work automatically after plugging it in. No editing plist files, no loading kexts. The HCL doesn't seem to have all the hardwares that people have mentioned working in other posts. EDIT: I hear the Griffin Imic is good.. but its not listed on 10.4.5. HCL, will it still work? Also- What about these USB dongles: http://www.sustworks.com/site/news_usb_ethernet.html EDIT PART DUEX: Will all USB devices designed for OSX work? theSpam
Well, the 3Com NIC listed in my sig works nicely (without any modifications, I may add) with the 10.4.3 IONetworkingFamily.kext (which is included by default on the install DVD everyone is using nowadays). treleung
What do you mean " For OSx86" this thing was built for the PC, I don't get what you mean. And unrelated update: I tried a USB ethernet adapter that was stated to work with 10.4.4 and it did not work. Should I just go back to 10.4.3. because it seems nothing works with 10.4.5. bluedragon1971
I'm using one of the generic USB sound dongles that you see all over eBay, and it is recognized as a C-Media headset and is working fine with no patching at all. Sabr
What do you mean " For OSx86" this thing was built for the PC, I don't get what you mean. He means he uses that for OSx86 No need to over complicate things... Also, just remember that OS X86 isn't mean't to be run on this hardware, so you can't really blame the fact that we have incompatibility issues... P.S. My 3Com905C-TX NIC Card works well too! treleung
I'm not upset by the fact that we are having incompatibility issues, I knew *somewhat* I what I was getting into when I decided to install osx, but please understand my patience does have a limit and when I try two different mobos with neither audio or lan working on both despite endless hours of tinkering(and apple not even recognizing that theres devices there) I come to a point where I need to decide if this is worth my time or if I should bail and pay the $$ to get the stuff to work. I forked out some $$ and it still didn't work. Just a lil' frustrating. EDIT 1: I just bought one of those 3Com NICS off ebay. It seems a few people have had success with them. SABR- did yours work without modification with the IONetworkingFamily.kext aswell? THx EDIT 2: Have yall heard of any success with the c-media pci cards? I have a soundblaster 24bit right now but as I've been told theres nothing avail with that.
