TheDynamo
I Get exactly the same problem. The only thing i do - is reboot about 10-20 times, sometimes it will work ok after 1 reboot, sometimes more. It is to do with the graphics card (GMA965) . I have tried numerous board suggestions, but to no avail. Half the screen goes white the other half black if left after it looks smashed..... geiman
I had this problem, however booting with cpus=1 fixed it for me. then I just had to get the correct graphics drivers installed

blaznc
i had this problem with my p1620, try booting in safe mode with the -x flag that should get you to the log on screen and into the OS. Then turn on Remote Management. Reboot normally and your screen will be garbled again, log into the machine remotely with VNC and change the resolution, it is prob set at 800x600. At 1024x768@60hz there shouldn't be any problems. This happens because the apple video drivers cannot properly detect your display so it outputs the wrong resolution/frequency.
