I need some help installing OS X. Every time I try to install OS X, I have attempted multiple times, it either finishes the installation but when I click the restart button I get some error that says:

"<ERROR> server_shutdown bootstrap_register(): Service Name already exists"

Or, it just doesn't load up

I've tried...

-iAtkos 10.5.2 v2

-iAtkos 10.5.4 v4i

-iAtkos 10.5.4 v4.1i

-JaS 10.4.8

-JaS 10.5.4

-iDeneb 10.5.5

My Computer Specs:

-Dell Vostro 1400

-Intel Core 2 Duo

-T5270 at 1.40GHz

-2.00GB of RAM

-Chipset: Intel PM965

-Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS

Please if you could help, it would be greatly appreciated

how long did you waited for it?

i had encountered that with mine too.. i've waited for like 3 mins and it did went well and restarted that thing.. i think it only appears in the first restart the next time i restarted mine.. it was ok..

maybe "litte patience" dude.. :)

ok i got this from mine too..

its a synching problem.. then restarts..

i think i got it solve when i had it..

after install... eject the install DVD from the drive dont LET it boot from there again dont start the machine where the Install DVD is still there.. let it boot from the HD after the fresh install.

that's how i did mine.

it didn't work...it wouldn't let me eject the CD

i click restart (after the installation) a grey screen comes up and the loading sign shows, this is when i tried to eject the cd,

then a black screen comes up, just as it always has, and it shows me the same message

it did say something about syncing disks though at the very end

can anyone help shed more light?

yes its a synching problem .. :)

yes mac installer wouldnt let you do that.. but you'd have to stop it.

what you can do is to turn off the machine.. or hit cntrl alt delete, then eject the DVD. in short just DONT let it start/boot with the DVD still in the drive. trust me, tried it more than 5 times. ;)

what you could do is to set the HFS+ partition to be active..

To do this two things:

you can use a ubuntu live cd (gpedit) or any live cd to edit the boot flag and set the mac os partition to be active instead of the xp one. (easy one)

or you can use the terminal in the using the mac installation disk and fdisk the thing. :D you can search in the forum how to do that.

i think it's about on people having dual boot. which is also my current set up. :D

though technically i have triple boot. xp, macosx, vista (separate drive, had to boot from this drive first to get vista, hehehe so many hassles).. :D

alright, it looks like i ran into another obstacle...

i think i need to install darwin bootloader manually (is it possible?)

i have 3 installation discs (all iAtkos)

-10.5.1 v1.0

-10.5.4 v4

-10.5.4 v4.1

10.5.4 v4 and 10.5.1 don't install darwin bootloader for some reason, and 10.5.4, when i put it in the drive, it boots into mac os x automatically (but i have to wait for the countdown to go down otherwise i'll get an error)

is there a way just to manually darwin or any other bootloader from mac os x

(i'm on 10.5.1 atm)
