M0000000000
it didn't work...it wouldn't let me eject the CD i click restart (after the installation) a grey screen comes up and the loading sign shows, this is when i tried to eject the cd, then a black screen comes up, just as it always has, and it shows me the same message it did say something about syncing disks though at the very end can anyone help shed more light? Jack Manlosa
yes its a synching problem .. yes mac installer wouldnt let you do that.. but you'd have to stop it. what you can do is to turn off the machine.. or hit cntrl alt delete, then eject the DVD. in short just DONT let it start/boot with the DVD still in the drive. trust me, tried it more than 5 times. M0000000000
so you're saying is let it do everything, even with that error message? but when it restarts just take out the DVD before it loads up? Jack Manlosa
yep.. thats sounds about right, darwin wasnt installed in the mbr. question are you on dual boot? it could be the HFS+ partition isnt set to active. i need to know your set up. partitions, etc.. other OS.. Jack Manlosa
what you could do is to set the HFS+ partition to be active.. To do this two things: you can use a ubuntu live cd (gpedit) or any live cd to edit the boot flag and set the mac os partition to be active instead of the xp one. (easy one) or you can use the terminal in the using the mac installation disk and fdisk the thing. you can search in the forum how to do that. M0000000000
alright i'll look into that just to be sure...some people have trouble booting into mac os x and need the installation disk to get into it, it's just not me? Jack Manlosa
i think it's about on people having dual boot. which is also my current set up. though technically i have triple boot. xp, macosx, vista (separate drive, had to boot from this drive first to get vista, hehehe so many hassles).. M0000000000
alright, it looks like i ran into another obstacle... i think i need to install darwin bootloader manually (is it possible?) i have 3 installation discs (all iAtkos) -10.5.1 v1.0 -10.5.4 v4 -10.5.4 v4.1 10.5.4 v4 and 10.5.1 don't install darwin bootloader for some reason, and 10.5.4, when i put it in the drive, it boots into mac os x automatically (but i have to wait for the countdown to go down otherwise i'll get an error) is there a way just to manually darwin or any other bootloader from mac os x (i'm on 10.5.1 atm) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135565-help-please-read/#findComment-960833 Share on other sites
Jack Manlosa
sorry i dont have any experience with Aitkos, as i am always using Kalyway but yes you can install the darwin bootloader manually. you may want to search the forum the easiest way to do it.
