electro77
Install went fine. After reboot we get stuck on the gray screen with the Apple in the middle. Are others experiencing this? arcticsheep
boot with -v and see what it says also check if your motherboard is in osrom.net since you might need a patched BIOS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135507-stuck-at-gray-apple-screen-after-install/#findComment-960126 Share on other sites
electro77
What does -v mean? What is it supposed to do? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135507-stuck-at-gray-apple-screen-after-install/#findComment-960153 Share on other sites
arcticsheep
It means verbose, it shows everything thats going on in the computer while its booting, so instead of seeing and apple logo you'll see a lot of text, and probably a kernel panic. when it freezes, tell me what it says.. sometimes you need to wait a while though, so make sure the computer is actually frozen before reporting what it said. electro77
I don't even make it to the Gray screen when I use -v Board is Asus P5Q Pro and some say they got Kalyway up and running with an official BIOS. If the BIOS was the issue, wouldn't that have prevented the install? Stylez
sure you dont make it to the grey apple screen, because -v shows you everthing 'behind' the grey screen. so tell us what there is shown when it stucks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135507-stuck-at-gray-apple-screen-after-install/#findComment-960345 Share on other sites
electro77
About half a screen of text. I'll write it down and report. One thing it did say after -v was something like "error rebooting in 5 seconds" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135507-stuck-at-gray-apple-screen-after-install/#findComment-960370 Share on other sites

upinthecloude
I have the exact same problem, except I did a full on retail install. I believe their is a problem with the ACPI Platform kext. I replaced mine with a modified one, which should have fixed the problem, but It still freezes. I have a MSI P43 Neo3 F mobo. check my blog for my install records. upinthecloude
Default everything. Except I changed it to AHCI plus IDE support, and added legacy usb port support so that Darwin would recognize my keyboard. Not much else. I figured out that a CHMOD and Chown would be required. Trying that now Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135507-stuck-at-gray-apple-screen-after-install/#findComment-969637 Share on other sites
