Fried_Brain
My Feelings: I feel like Im at the Vegas Roulette wheel. C'mon...give me victory! :-] My Install: I did an Install of Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1} The Install went well, finally! (No errors, or dropouts) I got a special education on disc burning and disc integrity. I used NERO DISCSPEED for verification. The only problem is when I reboot, I get "THE BLINKING CURSOR OF DEATH." :-[ One special note. I have to unhook my (2) 1TB Seagate SATA drives so my 3rd drive (80 GB IDE Maxtor) , which Im installing to, comes up as a selection in my BIOS for boot devices. The Maxtor works fine and shows as being formatted in HFSJ when I run Win XP Pro on my 1TB Seagate drive. I can actually read the MAC files in Windows. Im not sure if thats because I have MACDrive7 installed on my system. My System: Intel D865GBFLK (socket 478) motherboard Intel P4 2.8C Ghz (Northwood) CPU, Hyperthreading, (MMX, SSE, SSE2) Intel 82865G Graphics Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) with Accelerated Hub Architecture bus Intel 82801EB I/O Controller Hub (ICH5) HP DVD Writer 1040d (multi-format Read-Writer) <--- I USE THIS to BURN Maxtor 6L080J4, 80GB, 2MB cache, IDE Hard Drive <--- I BURNED to THIS DRIVE Seagate ST31000340AS, 1TB, SATA1, 32MB cache <--- I HAVE WIN XP PRO on this DRIVE Seagate ST31000340AS, 1TB, SATA1, 32MB cache AOPEN CD-RW CRW5224 My Burn: HP DVD Writer 1040d (multi-format Read-Writer) Nero 8 Ultra, Disk Image Verbatim DVD+R DL, 8.5GB, 2.4x <I tried Sony DVD-R single layer disc's, but I could'nt get good burns, I think the Hi-Speed burning was causing problems> Maxtor 6L080J4, 80GB, 2MB cache, IDE Hard Drive Things I Tried Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1} -I tried checking and unchecking all the selections during the install; INTEL, AMD, with PRINTER DRIVERS, without PRINT DRIVERS ... no change. Someone with a similar system had succes below. Since 3 weeks I have the 10.4.8 running on a P4 Northwood (Intel 865PE Chipset, Nvidia 6200 GPU) running stable using the Jas 10.4.8 SSE2 SSE3 AMD Intel iso Kalyway_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd - I tried Kalyway 10.5.2 Intel Amd and that didnt even allow me to do an install. I did it because someone had success with a similar system below. I couldnt find the Brazilmac version listed below and went with a generic version. D865GLC mobo, Brazilmac Patched DVD with Kalyway 10.5.2 Updater & Brazilmac Post-Patch If any has any suggestions Im all ears. Im spinning my wheels and going nowhere fast. Thanks in Advance. Fried_Brain
I used MacDrive7 to look for the BootX file and its there ... /System/Library/CoreServices/BootX I used --> Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1] I saw ramblings on the net that the disk erase utility might have some bugs in PPF1. Im going to try --> Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2] I let everyone know it flys. yokhaji
I had a problem like this. What i did was change from Intel to AMD patch in the installer. The only downside to this is that you a localhost:/ root# loop, and im still working on that here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=135298 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/135146-intel-d865gbflk-p4-28c-ich5-82865g-gmch/#findComment-958908 Share on other sites
Fried_Brain
WoooooooooooooooooHooooooooooooooooo IT WooooooooooooooooooorKs! I only burnt the midnight oil trying to get this baby going! Internet Works right of the bat. Amazing! NO AUDIO. It recognized that I have AC97 integrated audio but theres NO SOUND yet! I have a MIDI card installed in a PCI slot which it didnt recognize either. I have my work cut for me. WHat I Did: (for the next bloke) * Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2] * boot: - x * Erased Hard drive with "Disk Utility" during install * For Install Packages I selected: > Intel > X11 > Print Drivers Now I have to figure out how to jump between XP and OSX since I have them natively installed on different drives. I have to unplug my 2 SATA drives so that my IDE drive with OSX is recognized in the BIOS as a selection. Im thinking of getting some kind of bootloader that I can run off my DVD player. I also have to learn how to virtually mount drives since burning is becoming a pain the rump. Its like exploring a whole new world. Pretty cool.
