g_gonzo99
Hi, Having got my new Hackintosh desktop working, I though I'd try with my laptop which is a Dell Inspiron 9100, particulary as i'd seen some positive reports here. I've got 10.4.5 installed from Myzar's DVD, and it automatically recognized my wireless network card and bluetooth. Sound isn't working, but I think I know what I need to fix it. I'm stuck as far as the screen resolution goes though! People here have reported getting it to run at 1920 x1200 with QE and CI supported, but I'm having no such luck. It will run at 1024 x 768 with QE/CI support, but the best resolution I've managed to get is 1600 x 1200 with no QE/CI. Could anyone point me in the direction of a possible solution? It has the Mobility Radeon 9700. Thanks Gonz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13481-inspiron-9100mobility-9700-help/ Share on other sites
perfect0
Hi, I have a similar situation but I cannot even go beyond 1024 x 768. How did you get yours to 1600 x 1200? I used the Koverg patch and have CE and QI but just stuck to that one resolution. Rammjet
Callisto drivers: http://omni.starchaser.org/callisto These will add resolution control. Read the FAQ included in the package for a way to get QE/CI. perfect0
I followed the Callisto instructions. At reboot I was glad to see that Callisto was loading, although I got a black screen at the end. Looking at the Troubleshooting page in Callisto zip file, the black screen seems to be that the mode is out of range for my laptop screen although the resolution mentioned while booting was correct (1440x900) but I did notice that the the frequency was 90, I think a frequency that indeed my laptop screen maybe cannot accommodate. Now that I have a black screen I have no idea how to get into OSx86 again since an -x boot ends up the same way as a normal boot: a black screen. Help! perfect0
Happy to say that Callisto worked, version 3, that is. I now have 1440x900 resolution although, as others in other posts have also reported, I've lost QE and CI. I guess that's alright rather than being stuck on 1024x768 but with QE and CI? perfect0
It appears that in the numerous tweaks that I've done on my OSx86, I lost my ATIRadeon9700GA.plugin. Is is possible for me to extract this from my install disk? It's a 10.4.6 that I upgraded to 10.4.8. If not, may I be directed to where I may download it somehow? Thanks...again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13481-inspiron-9100mobility-9700-help/#findComment-215670 Share on other sites
perfect0
I was able to reload the ATIRadeon9700GA.plugin using Pacifist and did the necessary change as per Callisto's FAQ page. Unfortunately, I still don't have QE and CI. I also noticed that I now have artifacts, whereas I didn't notice of any prior to reloading the plugin. perfect0
At long last, various resolutions AND QE and CI are working for my ATI Mobility Radeon 9700. Thanks, well, particularly to Rammjet for being patient with me. I will try to see if I can do something about the artifacts which happen still once in a while. Next challenge: getting bluetooth to work on my headset as it says that my hardware doesn't support headsets. fibre_putty
Some help would be appreciated. Seems like a clean install gives me CI/QE but with the single res of 1024x768, using the Katana hack I get resolutions but no CI/QE Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13481-inspiron-9100mobility-9700-help/#findComment-294614 Share on other sites
