raziiq
Hi there. I am trying to install iPhoto. But whenever i try to install it, i get some installer Error as shown in the Pic attached. Please help me with this InstallerProb.tiff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/134542-installer-permission-problem/ Share on other sites
hecker
Right click the installation file and set the correct permissions from the "Get Info"->"Sharing & Permissions" menu. If it's a dmg file, you can also try moving the contents into another directory. Good luck! raziiq
i have already done what you said about changing the directory. Its .dmg file and i have placed it in some other Directory. As far as permissions are concerned, i have right clicked it and in the GET INFO window i have this label written "YOU HAVE THE READ AND WRITE ACCESS TO THIS FILE" Still the same Installer error. I have also changed the INSTALLER.APP permissions but all in vain. hecker
Maybe the files are corrupt. You could try re-downloading them. EDIT: Did you apply the file permissions changes to all the underlying files as well? raziiq
ya may be a corrupt download. i ll try downloading the file from some other source and will post my feedback. One more thing is that whenever i try to change the Permissions from GET INFO window to Read only from Read and Write, it wont change, it remains the same, even the tick mark wont change. Dont know what is going on. It all started when i repaired permissions for System Folder and used APPLY TO ALL SUBFOLDERS settings. hecker
Hmm, have you tried fixing the drive's file permissions from the disk utility again? Also, did you copy the contents of the DMG file into a different folder? (Not the DMG itself). raziiq
Well below is the Error that i get when i try to repair permission for the Disk using disk Utility. Please have a look at the attached pic DiskError.tiff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/134542-installer-permission-problem/#findComment-953605 Share on other sites
hecker
Hmm, that does indeed indicate that it has something to do with the permissions issue you had before. The only sane thing I can recommend at this point, is to use an app called DiskWarrior to try to repair the damaged disk structure: http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/index.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/134542-installer-permission-problem/#findComment-953625 Share on other sites
raziiq
hey thanks buddy, your trick worked. Infact i had to repair permission for the Disk using my Leopard Installation Disk and so i did. It took a long time though but finally i got it. I was having some ACL warnings when doing Disk Repair permission but i searched about it and came to know that these are the warnings only and should not do anything wrong. Anyways Thanks alot for all your help. You are my Hero buddy.
