I updated my 10.5.2 using the combo installer of 10.5.5 using pacifist and leaving the two root files and extensions and system configuration folder out and installing everything else.  Im a noob so I dont know if that wont work or what but it boots now and i get an distoreted image of what appears to be the last thing in my video card.   The first time it was the leopard screen but I booted vista to try and find some fix and when I booted leopard again it passes the grey screen.  loads a light blue screen for a couple seconds and then comes back with the distorted image but this its Vista! Its my vista install and i have mouse ability to move but I cant do anything else.  I have an Asus mobo with Intel 3.0ghz Core 2 using vanilla kernals.  Again I can move my mouse but I have no finder or anything.  Just my vista desktop all distorted as a background.  Kinda creepy cause im sure im in Leopard heh.

Pacifist is a great tool but installing with Pacifist will only copy files and apply permissions to it but when you are installing from an installer it runs some pre and post scripts and also copies files in right places. I advise you to use the installer instead of pacifist.

The installer makes me reboot manually and I have to delete the IntelCPUPowerManagment to even be able to get past an infinite you must restart your computer loop. Then after getting past the loop it just loads and loads forever and never does anything. So the installer is no good either.
