prodeguerriero
Hi everybody. I installed iDeneb on the HW in sign. I'm testing so that I can use Retail Leopard soon. By the way seems to work fine. I have two problems though. 1)With the old mobo I was using a Pata drive for my tests. Now with this p45 mobo, it doesn't work. I have to put the SATA drives in AHCPI so that the install works, because I have a Sata DVD drive now. But Utility Disk doesn't see the Pata drive. I solved it using temporaly a 2,5" Sata drive, but I'd like to see if I can go back to the IDE one. Otherwise I'll have to get a Sata one. 2) The Sata drivers work fine, but there is a wierd thing happening. All the drives on the desktop appear with the yellow body, like the USB or FW ones, but without the symbols. Is there a way to have them Back to the normal icon? I'll post a screen. Hope somebody can help me out! peach-os
afaik you can´t install with this board to IDE. the only workaround I know is to install it on a s-ata drive, and clone it to an IDE drive. after that you should try to add the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext from here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=88335 I never tried it myself - so I´m not sure if it helps about the orange icons: in my little guide here you will find a dl package with all the files you need http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...&pid=940826 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/134505-no-ide-on-my-p45-gigabyte-mobo-and-sata-hd-seen-as-external-hd/#findComment-953311 Share on other sites
prodeguerriero
Thank you very much. I'll try to see if it's worth cloning. I'm going to take a look @ your guide too. I've another question for you: I have my MacBook retail version, which doesn't allow me to install it on any other computer. Do you know if there is a workaround? I am willing to buy another version of Leo (actually, I was thinking of waiting for snow leo), but I'd like to be sure it works first. prodeguerriero
Hi! I'm bringing this thread up because I have a little question. Now I have iDeneb Working. I can't get my retail version to work, I guess because installing it on the macbook and then moving it messes things up. I'll try once I get another retail copy (but I think I'll wait for Snow Leo). BTW, I used the patch for the yellow Drives and that is ok. Next Q is about OSx itself actually. Is there a way to tell the OS that I don't want it to mount an HD even if it is recognized on boot? Because I have the HD with Windows Partitions (3) which pops up on screen every time I start Leo and they are quite annoying. In windows I disabled the SATA channel which has the Leo HD, but I don't know how to do the opposite on Leopard. I'll be looking for an answer, but if any of you guys knows it already, I'd appreciate if you'd tell me! Bye Bye and thanks again! P.S. Peach, I followed your guide to install retail, but it seems that even the folders on the LEO DVD that I got are different from standard. I gave up for now, but I'll be back. Thanks again for your help. prodeguerriero
Hi there, Questions on HD again. I found some fixes about the mounting thing, but I think I'll solve it by taking away from desktop all the Hard Drives. But I have a problem: Once in the Finder preferences, if I deselct Hard Disks, the only one which disappears is The Leopard Hard Disk (which has only one partition). To get rid of all the other HDs i have to deselct CDs, DVDs, iPods. Needless to say that it is not a good choice, because the external small HD and the Optical Discs disappear too. Does anybody know why this happens? Thanks!
