keplenk
Hi all, I'm looking for the most recent or most stable kernel for my Tiger PC. I actually downloaded Kalyway 10.4.10 and patched it with the ppf to support SSE2/AMD. My PC has an SSE2 processor - P4 1.7Ghz. I can only boot using safe mode, otherwise, it panics. I tried using the kernel that the Kalyway DVD uses and it works. However, I know that this kernel is old and it is having problems with my nvidia video card (it requires a higher kernel version). I really need an updated kernel for Tiger. The version that the Kalyway DVD uses (the one that works with my PC) is 8.8.1 The version that the Kalyway DVD gives that doesn't work or only works in safemode is 8.9.1. It also notes in the installer that the SSE2 support is still experimental and he needs beta tester. When I started osx86, it was already Leopard 10.5.0. This is the reason why I don't know where to get updated kernel versions for Tiger. Usually, I'll just go to irc.moofspeak.net / irc.osx86.hu / uphuck server to get the updated kernel for Leopard. I tried to go to Tiger channels in the IRC and I can't find it anywhere there. I'm almost certain that those tiger kernel links where posted in those channels before. But now, not anymore. The links would be fine with me. If you're to generous to upload or share it to me, that would be sweeter! lol. Thanks! P.S. (1) I already tried looking for the kernels but most of them ended up as dead links. I wish I could try harder but I'm out. P.S. (2) I also tried other releases like uphuck's/xxx_10.4.10/Jas' but all of them doesn't even give me to a point where I am at Kalyway's installer now. I think I've downloaded almost all of tiger versions. Even the 10.4.6 ones because I was so desperate. keplenk
After doing some more research, I am still out of luck. However, somethings are clearer now. I guess what I'm looking for is a stable kernel (not upated would be fine) that will run my SSE2 Processor. As of the moment, the only working kernel for my system is 8.8.1 from semthex. I also found out that the kernel database that was posted in the IRC (irc.osx86.hu) before was all removed. Can someone upload these kernels: 8.9.1 (Universal SSE2/SSE3) - I believe it was made by netkas (tried netkas.org but the link was already dead and IRC channel #1049 doesn't have the bot machine anymore) and/or 8.10.1 - I don't know who made it but someone said that there is an existing version that supports SSE2 and IS STABLE! (This is the one I'm looking for) and/or 8.10.3 - for SSE2 - Someone also said that he used this but it wasn't stable and only works with chameleon. He is using Leopard now so he can't share anymore. If you have any other working/stable kernel for Intel SSE2 that is not listed above, please share it. I need the mach_kernel and the System.kext only. Thank you very much.
