fallingheights
Right, so I've got an Acer 4060WLmi or something like that. Specs: 1.73Ghz P-M 512MB DDR2 915Gsomething w/ 900GMA onboard Some type of HD audio (Realtek) Intel Pro 2200 Wireless 80GB HD Anyways, I've got Windows and OS X booting together just fine, the problem is, as I'm sure many of you are familier with, it doesn't want to boot onto my internal LCD. So, that's problem #1, and the main problem. When I boot with an external monitor, it works just fine, but maybe 1/10 times I'll get it to boot onto the internal display (boot windows, boot osx, use boot commands and such), but it usually doesn't work (blue screen). Now, I just tried booting with the -v switch, and noticed it giving me this message: GFX0: family specific matching fails display: family specific matching fails GFX0: family specific matching fails display: family specific matching fails So, I'm hoping this is an easier problem than most 915 users have, but probably not. The second problem is with the audio, I've tried some AC97 codecs floating around the forum to no success. This isn't quite as important as booting into the OS, but if anyone has an idea, it would be nice. shadowfall
Dude, I feel your pain - your system mirrors mine. Though in the small time 10.4.3 worked I got clear audio. 10.4.1 works - but no QE/CI which is a pain. I hope someone does something soon. Cheers! thrunner
This is a well known problem and is probably described in the Wiki. Also here and URL thereof: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?s=...indpost&p=73618 Basically, on some systems, you would need a dummy VGA adapter or a two jumpers to your VGA out. shadowfall
I dont know how much that helps cos I have tried booting 10.4.3 and 10.4.4/5 from the dvd with an external monitor attached and still seen a blue screen. Vaio's are supposed to be very peculiar machines when it comes to osx. Sucks. Well the problem I have with this is that while booting with an external monitor works 100%, it doesn't detect my internal monitor after booting, so I can't switch it over; I'm basically stuck using the external if I try to boot with one. shadowfall
Well, you are one step ahead - I cant even get the dvd install to start on an external monitor. Did you make any changes to the BIOS? s800
Same problem. GMA video here, computer working great.. but only on external monitor. No other display detected, and I'm getting: GFX0: family specific matching fails display: family specific matching fails GFX0: family specific matching fails display: family specific matching fails ApplePS2Trackpad: Synaptics TouchPad v6.2 GFX0: family specific matching fails display: family specific matching fails display: Not usable This isn't the jumper issue- I'm typing this on an external monitor just fine- even QE/CI on 10.4.4. Just wont see an additional display (my laptop's LCD just isn't there!) shadowfall
I dont get it. I have the same card and the same messages, but it refuses to start/run on an external monitor. I don't know why... BTW - which osx versions/patches are you guys using? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13383-another-915-problem/#findComment-86229 Share on other sites

BTW - which osx versions/patches are you guys using? 10.4.3 / JaS 4.2 I wish there were a way to just force it to mirror the resolution everywhere, so even when it's not detecting it, it's still sending out a signal, like when you force a computer with a tv out to send the signal, even when it doesn't detect the tv. Where is Steve when you need him. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13383-another-915-problem/#findComment-86459 Share on other sites
