This is killin me....

Sometimes OS X boots, sometimes it doesn't. Installed off the pre-patched 10.4.4/5 DVD, de-selected 10.4.5 on the install.

When it doesn't work on boot, it hangs at:

Waiting for boot volume with UUID 629AF74D-33B6-3951-BB93-6AE12728B82C

Waiting on <dict ID="0"<key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>

Even an explanation of this would help.. is my hard drive not being detected (it's a PATA drive, master hooked up to a slave dvd-rw)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I can't seem to find anything googling the error or searching here on the forums, and tried the wiki as well.

Has anyone had this problem and recovered?

Much thanks in advance.. looking forward to some informed responses!

Hi ¿colud you solve the problem? I'm facing the same problem and any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Nope, noone ever responded... it happens, then goes away and i'm fine.. but when it happens, im pretty damned annoyed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys! :)

if you desactivate your Hyperthreading in bios, the problem will diseapear...

but it will desactivate your second core too...

try this, it has worked for me on my Pentium D 930... :D

in CPU config :

Microcode Updation : ENABLED

Max CPUID Value Limit : DISABLED

Execute Disable Function : ENABLED

CPU Thermal Control : DISABLED

Venderpool Technology : ENABLED

Hyperthreading Technology : ENABLED

good luck...

(but it will activate the two cores...)

for looking for the cores in use, open activity monitor in Application/Utilities

if there is two bargraph ---> ok :D

othewise, try anything else... ;)
