Catalyst 0.7 is the first public test release of a new theme editing application. ShapeShifter is supported via the built in DLTA exporter. Catalyst is the first theme editor to run natively on the Intel architecture. In addition, Catalyst's .skin format is the first safe theme format for both the Intel and PowerPC architectures. Users of Mac OS X on both architectures may freely exchange themes without risking conflicts or data corruption due to differences in the architectures. Catalyst's .skin format is also built on Apple's CoreData technology, meaning Catalyst can handle thousands of images in a skin with ease.

I'm just about to test it with some themes I downloaded. Let's hope this works and don't have to wait for ShapeShifter to be released.

Yea, it's a problem with me too SABR. I thought it can use the ShapeShifter's skin, but obviously not. The author's blog states that it can do what ever it can do with .skin files. I have not found any .skin files and know nothing of them. I'll do more digging and find out what exactly this app does when I have some time off from my real work.

This is a new product, there aren't any themes yet. What it was saying about shapeshifter is that you can export to DLTA. This is the first working product for us, now we need the themers to start using it. Now! ;)

I'm gonna spend a few hours trying to port Iridium tonight.

From the developer's blog:

It seems from going over some of the forums there is confusion on Catalyst. Catalyst cannot apply themes onto your system. Catalyst is for theme creation. It can create themes to be used in a hopefully forthcoming Intel version of ShapeShifter. Catalyst, comparatively, is like an Intel version of ThemePark.
