Kalagaraz
FIXED: OK I fixed the problem by installing the Intel ICH8 AHCI driver and stock 9.4 kernal on the iAtkos v4.1i iso. Not sure which one exactly fixed the problem, but I'm going to assume the ICH8 AHCI driver did. The only problem now is it is not detecting my laptops keyboard. I'm having the "Still Waiting on Root Device" problem when booting from my harddrive. From searching the forums, I've figured out this is a problem with not having the right drivers installed for the SATA device, but I'm not sure what driver I need exactly. I've also read to try changing the ACHI setting in bios, but I do not have any settings in my bios with options like "ACHI, RAID" etc... I'm using the iAtkos v4.1i image. In my device manager, there are several ATA controllers listed, one is ACHI, but I'm not sure if ACHI is being used or not because it's not listed in my bios. MacNutty
Are you using IDE drive to boot OSX?

scv311us
I have this same, problem. Still Waiting for root device. Ive been using a ide western digital hdd. for now i have been using one of the cheap external ide to usb and it boots 'n runs smooth as {censored}. but once i try to slap her in using ide cable... im doomed. an old copy of lawless leo4all seems to be the only 100% installer i have found. all other require me to install/boot usb. Systems like a raped ape on usb, and barney fife on ide, {censored} dont work! anyways, if ppl can shed light. ive ripped out all my hair swapping sata ports jumpers, and ide cable slots. with the sata/ahci in every config. hardware is: GA-MA69GM-SH2 Chipset: SouthBridge SB600 Audio: ALC889A Video: 8800GT 512 DVD is sata hdd is ide. johnnysplx
I had waiting for root device. I removed all additional HDDs and the only one I had installed I had no jumper on it and I can now install OS X x86 Hope this helps. Mine are Western Digital too
brgroup
Hi scv311us: is it possible that OSX is confused by your mixed media? You said you have an sata DVD and an IDE hardrive.. Maybe it doesn't know which drivers to load..I had the same problem but had used the AHCI fix.. Only my media DVD and HDD BOTH were SATA - Possible to pick up a small SATA hard disk?
