Hi All, I am about to build my first Hackintosh and have a list of parts just stuck on which processor to buy. I am torn between the;

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Kentsfield Core, S775, 2.40 GHz 1066MHz 8MB Cache, 9x Multiplier, Retail £120.90

or

Intel Core 2 Duo, E8400, Wolfdale Core, S775, 3.0 GHz, 1333MHz, 6MB Cache, 9x Multiplier, Retail £113.38

It is mainly for Core Apps, 3D rendering, plus general use..

Here is the rest of the list so far, hoping to order this week....

512MB Sapphire HD3850 PCI-E2.0 (x16), 1656MHz GDDR3, GPU 668MHz, 320 Cores, 2xDVI-I/HDTV, HDCP

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R, iP45 Express, S775, PCI-E 2.0x16, DDR2 1066/1200/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX

Pioneer DVR-216DBK 20x DVD±R, 12x DVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RW x6, SATA, Black, OEM

4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-18

I am sure both will be fine, any comments appreciated. :)

Hi, check this out:

Tests

It's in italian, but it's easy. You have to choose the two CPUs and the test (which are listed in english). You'll be shown a chart giving you the results of all the CPUs listed and the two you chose will be in red.

maybe there is something that can help you to decide!

Hi, Quad core it is, great as I can get this for £399.95 delivered and was hoping to be under £400. I figure the GPU is more important for core apps especially motion and I can look into overclocking the processor should I become impatient.

Thanks for the link.
