got it all working!

Here are my specs

Intel 945PSN Motherboard

Pentium D 820 Processor

2 GB Crucial Memory

Sapphire X700 Pro Video w/256MB memory

WD SATA 250 GB

Sony DVD-Rom

Plextor 716SA SATA Dual Layer DVD Burner

10.4.5 Patched DVD

I installed XP first, on half of hard drive. Created a second partition, formatted it as a FAT32 partition, then rebooted with OSX. Used disk utility to find the FAT32 partition, convert it to a extended journaled partition, and let installer take it over.

Upon reboot, nothing worked. So, using the hires boot cd, toggled the OSX partition as active, and rebooted. Darwin came up, with 2 options-the XP partition and OSX. Both work just fine. I really have no idea why the Darwin bootloader worked so easily for me, after reading some of the stories of others trying to get dual booting to work.

Got the video card finally working with Koverg's patch, but the first time I installed OSX (I did this twice) it did not work. The second time was a charm.

Got sound working with the AppleHDA.kext and the other kext mentioned (sigmatech 9220 chipset) in other threads. However, like others, have to use the blue jack instead of the green one for sound.

The only issue I have now is I cannot boot into 1600 X 1200 for my flat panel. The ?Video option says this is possible, but it hangs. So, 1280X1024 is what I have for now.

Installed Firefox, but version 1.5 for me was pretty slow. So I grabbed the nightly build from the ftp site optimized for Intel processors, and it is very quick.

Now I just need to play around and experiment with OSX. Quite a leap for someone raised on Windows. I know this much...I won't be changing anything for sometime. Afraid of breaking things that work
