thesog
Since it uses the Realtek 8139 chipset then yes it should work. You may need to add your PCI vendor and device ID to the list for AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext. miliuco
It should work with the 10.4.3 IONetworkingFamily.kext file, there's no need to do the PCI vendor and device ID changes. If you install the 10.4.3 versión, you should have Internet from first boot, if you install the 10.4.4 version, you must put the IONetworkingFamily.kext from your 10.4.3 system into the 10.4.4 but if you install the 10.4.4 > 10.4.5 version (DVD integrated by Myzar) you should have Internet from first boot also (perhaps the DVD has integrated the 10.4.3 IONetworkingFamily.kext?). miliuco Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13086-will-this-ethernet-card-work-on-mac-os-x/#findComment-83204 Share on other sites

When I install 10.4.5 with the 10.4.3 IONetworkingFamily.kext I get the reboot screen everytime. When I delete the IONetworkingFamily.kext file I can boot. Somehow there is a conflict between the 10.4.3 IONetworkingFamily.kext and my built-in 8139. here is where it hangs I honestly don't know what that means but if you have any idea on how I can fix it feel free to reply. kojima
I guess there is no hope? Doesn't seem like anyone can explain this screen, or has experienced a similar problem. Ahh well it's just as well maybe, I'll get full use of my USB HD back after deleting the Mac partition. dastrom
Probably but you won't be out much if it doesn't. It may depend on your motherboard. I have had a RT8139 card work well in one motherboard with 10.4.5 and 10.4.6 but not in another motherboard. I've bought a few of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16833156139 I think its based on the RT8169 chip. They work in a real Macs and PCs and I have one installed that works well in a triple boot system - XP, OSx86 (10.4.6) and Ubuntu Dapper. Works well in all with no messing around using the Myzar DVD. dastrom Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/13086-will-this-ethernet-card-work-on-mac-os-x/#findComment-102916 Share on other sites
