Our mobility HD2400 device ID is already in ATIRadeonX2000.kext but the driver don't support natively our internal LCD. Perhaps with an injector like NATIT we could activate it, but until now no one known what to change in natit info.plist.

F8 / boot with -s / mount -uw / sudo su - / cd /System/Library / rm Extension.mkext / mv ATIRadeonX2000.kext ATIRadeonX2000.kext.old / reboot

This is a way to force osx to boot without ati driver and use apple framebuffer at 1024x768.

-With 1280x800 panel you can't get better resolution then 1024x768

-With 1400x1050 you can get full resolution with no qi/ci by editing boot.plist and adding:

<key>"Graphics Mode"<\key>

<string>"1400x1050x32@60"<\string>

Works natively, though it shows up as 400Mbps rather than 800

Here is the tread but id don't work with our reader

Hi, thanks for the heads up and the starting this thread. I have tried for a long time trying to get the travelmate 6592 to work, but its really not going very well. The Keyboard and trackpad work when i got the laptop originally, bu then i did a bios update (to get ahci/ide option in bios) . Then after that the keyboard and trackpad have not worked. \it always says, keyboard or mouse input stream timed out. Keyboard probe failed etc.

The Ati 2400 won't work either- it does work in safe mode, internal and dvi, no problems. On regular boot, there are lines across, no image.

Have tried all keyboard/mouse/display kexts, but nothing. I am not to thecnically inclined, i try best to follow instructions and when i am brave, i will be adventurous, but usually don't get very far.

One member talked about editing the Dvice id for hd2400 to make it work, i tried but it did not work, my laptop would turn on, but no image at all. Had to do a blind reflash/crisis recovery to ge it working again.

sorry im not much help, but i will keep tring if anything should work, then i willsurely let you know.

i am most concerned about the keyboard/trackpad and display..

@Eddi:

thank you for gathering all that info.

My current install is Leo4All v3. Here are my findings:

Internal audio works, just look the forum for the ALC268 driver.

Firewire: works natively, though it shows up as 400Mbps rather than 800: my external audio card, an Echo AudioFire 4, works like a charm with progs such as iTunes.

Video: Mobility radeons not yet supported, afaik. But one can still change desktop resolution: in my case (HD2400XT, id 0x94c8) I needed to add to com.apple.Boot.plist the following lines:

<key>"Graphics Mode"<\key>

<string>"1400x1050x32@60"<\string>

Currently, I have no specific video kext loaded.

Thanks, f

Hi, thanks for contributing, i have sofaer used, tiger and leo versions of osx. The keyboard and mouse is what kills it for me. Any luck with the keyboard or mouse/trackpad. I was actually wonering, in the early versions of this laptop , the trackpad and keyboard had different firmware, do you reckon, if we were able to download the firmware from some where we could flash keyboard/trackpad back to an older version that worked with osx.

Or if we were able to get a keyboard/track with an older frimware, then it might work. I know the keyboard is made by darfon http://www.darfon.com.tw/English/Default.asp, the model seems to be AE, but i haven't found any firmware on their site.

i hope all that makes sense

I hate acer keyboard firmware...

Under windows I can't do fn+alt+1,2,6 like hp-compaq/vaio to get tilde and i have to fn+numlock, alt+1,2,6, fn+nl.

howeber the keyboard firmware should be by acer. Perhaps if a developer support us may be easier and less dangerous to patch ps2 driver rather then downgrading ec bios.

You're right, keyboard seems to be the AE model from Darfon, exception made for the green "nipple" (sorry, don't know its real name) located between the G,H and B keys.

I'm pretty sure some people out there are happy with their 6592g and some Linux distro, with no problems about PS/2 devices. I can theoretically admit that maybe a firmware downgrade could solve the problem, at the expense of losing any of the bugfixes/improvements made in later versions. But imho the real problem resides somewhere in the PS2 subtree of OSX's IOKit. I dont know whether the problem is at the ps2controller level or more probably at ps2keyboard/trackpad level, and sadly at the moment I have no time to spend in further investigations. But I know that fixing the problem cannot involve rewriting the drivers from zero; maybe there's something related to power management, and only few lines need to be added/changed.

Sorry for not being so useful ...

Have a nice day/night

Who know C++ programming?

It seems that the PS2 driver we can find on forum, have a different initialization routine if compared to linux pc_keyb.c.

Since I can boot different linux distribution and I get keyboard working, I suppose we should use same algorithm like linux ps2 driver.

It's my job, though I can't give you or anyone else a time frame to get things done. So if any other C++ programmer out there can help us anyway, he/she's welcome.

That's a challenging supposition. Would you be so kind to post that pc_keyb.c, just to make some comparison?

Thanks, F

Last night I searched linux 2.4 repository.

In latest linux2.6 some driver has been renamed.

Here is it. I took a linux repository from internet.

http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/lxr/source/d...eyboard/atkbd.c

http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/lxr/source/d.../serio/libps2.c

http://www.gelato.unsw.edu.au/lxr/source/i.../linux/libps2.h

Let me know if you find this interesting.

Thank you for the sources. I started to make some testing. I have seen in the code where the keyboard doesn't respond to ps2controller. PS2Controller send bytes to mainboard ports which should identify PS2 devices, without getting any response. I could build a ps2controller kext that outputs some debug data to a log, and I would like such kext to be run on laptops where the internal keyboard works, just to see what's going wrong with 6592g. But before doing that, I will wrote some code under xp to query and test ports, and determine if I can do everything on my own.

Stay tuned, F

  • 4 weeks later...

I installed my Acer TravelMate 6592 last night, and just wanted to share my findings with you guys, it may help some.

Installation Package: Leo4All v3, you need a usb keyboard and mouse attached before you begin.

Install Options: Vanilla Kernel 9.2.2, Chipset=Intel ICHx, Audio=AzaliaAudio (It will not work after but fixed later on), Graphics=GMAX3100 with QE/CI for DeviceID 0x2a02, Good Applications, Remove-Firewire (This one is up to you I left it out for the meantime), PowerManagement-Laptops, About this mac, AMD-System-Fix (Default), Bootloader (Default), SMBIOS v2.7 Netkas (Default), ACPI 1.1.0 (Default) (Try others if you like cause I am having some reboot / shutdown issues).

After install hit reboot, take out the cd as soon as it starts booting not before its shutdown, do not use any startup options, just wait for the Setup Assistant, if Setup Assistant gets itself into a loop like mine did, then do this: reboot into single user mode (Startup options -s) at the prompt type this

"/sbin/mount -uw /"

"touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone"

"passwd root"

"typeyourchosenpasswordhere"

"repeatyourchosenpasswordhere"

"reboot"

Your mac should now reboot to the login screen, your username will be root and your password will be whatever you chose, once fully logged in, go to System Prefs, Accounts, create a new account for yourself with admin privlidges" reboot and login with your new details. These pieces of hardware should work imediately

SATA

USB

BLUETOOTH

BATERY METER

VGA (With res switch and QE/CI) (some artifacts but hardly ever, once a week maybe)

WEBCAM (Properly)

ISO Card Reader

IRDA

SD Card Reader

Untested

PCCARD

PCI-e

Fingerprint

Firewire

Not Working (but fixed in the next step)

Audio

Ethernet

Not Working (Not Fixed)

WiFi

Internal PS2 Keyboard

Internal PS2 Trackpad, Touchpad and green nipple thingie

So lets get the Audio working, use the file named "ALC268_Installer2", just double click and install, that should be it

Ethernet: Open "kext helper b7" then drag the file named "Intel82566MM.kext" enter your password and install, if this worked in about 30 seconds it will say it found a network and ask if you want to go set it up.

To test your webcam go to System Preferences, Accounts, user picture snapshot, to see your face.

Go to Energy Saver now and turn on your battery indicator.

Go to system prefs, sharing and give your computer a name, flick over the bluetooth switch, close system prefs and go back in, you should now have a bluetooth section available for setup.

I have included a link to the files I used for ease of use

Network | Audio

Hope this helps somebody out, and remember this IS NOT MY WORK, I have just compiled information mainly from here, to make it easier for someone else, that has a low IQ like me

Now if you guys could help me fix the last remaining things I would really appreciate it, and also maybe lead me in the right direction as to what to do to fix my reboot shutdown problems I think it has something to do with ACPI 1.1.0 but I would just like to confirm, from somebody that has installed using this method but has chosen a different ACPI at installation.

As I get more working on this I will let you guys know.
