argonlazer
I've been messing around with docks for the last few days and now I've struck this problem. I can't seem to close/hide it and it's preventing me from shutting down! Any ideas?
hecker
How did you do that? Does it stop you from shutting down even after a cold boot?
argonlazer
Well, I'm not sure to be honest. It does stop me shutting down after a cold boot, it's always there! It only appeared after messing with the docks. I might have opened the 'dock.app' when meaning to 'view package contents' but I don't think it should have done that? Is there a way to turn the dock off and then back off. I've tried the 'killall Dock' command to no avail..
argonlazer
This is my solution to the problem: You will need another copy of the dock.app to solve this, so you will need to grab the file from another Mac/Hack etc. I'm not to sure what actually happened but I fixed it by deleting the original 'dock.app' file and then typing in the terminal 'killall Dock'. (Usually it will reopen instantly but there is nothing to reopen). Then you will need to grab a copy of the dock.app from another Mac/Hack and put it where the original file was. Simply restart and it should have resolved itself.
