Hi everyone...

here's my problem:

I've got a laptop Vaio TX1HP, with 60 Gb Hard Drive...

I already have OS X installed on my desktop (2 separate HD) (and works great! :( )... now i want it on my laptop as well.

The problem is... after I've installed OS X, Darwin's bootloader will overwrite Windows' one...

so... how can i switch back to windows?

Or, if you prefer... how can I restore Windows' bootloader?

I've read a post where it can be easily made by using Bootmagic... it says install Bootmagic, install OS X, switch back to windows and add the chain0 to Bootmagic.

But... Bootmagic is installed in my disk's MBR... if I install OS X, it will overwrite Bootmagic's loader... or not?

Thanks in advance!!

Download and burn "Hiren's Boot CD". It contains several programs that you can use without having any OS in your computer. You just insert the CD and boot your computer. One of the programs of this CD is Bootmagic.

Of course I think you should be able to boot Windows also from the boot of Darwin. I mean, when you boot MAC OS, if you press F8, you can choose to boot the Windows partition, without needing any other tools

thanks for the advice...

I tried to boot Windows from darwin but got no luck...

do you know what command is required in order to run winxp?

I mean...

I press F8 to write addon commands... i remember i wrote rd=disk0s1 (which is my windows' partition), but all i got was grey screen with a nice apple and a message to rebbot my pc...

You can put the Windows installation disk in the drive and run the recovery console. The command is fixmbr.
