Ok, i have a Presario 2500 laptop and when I try to boot up with my DVD it gives the ole "IOPCCardBridge::Start Failed" error. So I'm trying to do the VMware native install trick, I just need some info as I tried it alread twice and keep on getting the dreaded "HFS+ partition error" or if I try the chain0 boot.ini trick I get the "Chain booting error" error. Tell me if I'm doing it correctly.

1:: Open up a terminal window in XP and type in:

diskpart

list disk - (shows you your disks)

select disk 0 - (or whichever drive you want to use)

list partition - (shows you the partitions, verify that the empty space is there)

select partition 2 - (or whichever you want to delete)

delete partition - (now it's unallocated space)

create partition primary id=af - (makes a new parititon in the unallocated space with type AF (you can add "size=XXXX" for XXXX megabytes") )

Once this is done is it normal to not see the partition in XP?

2:: Create a VMware machine with the following option:

Custom | New - Workstation 5 | Other - Other | Virtual Machine Name (Optional) / Location (Optional) | Memory - 256MB or above is preferable | Do not use a network connection | SCSI - Buslogic | Use a Physical Disk (Press OK/Continue on the warning that appears) | Select appropriate Device (as in the HDD you want to install onto), Usage - (Optional - for me it wasn't. I had to install OS X onto a full HDD, not a single partition... Not sure why...). | Disk file (Optional).

3:: Boot up "Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD" DVD

Boot up with the OS X install disk and go into the Disk Utility and erase the partition you created to Mac OS X Journled. And wait for the install to finish.

4:: Install Acronis OS Selector:

Install the OS selector and and restart the PC, choose the partition with OS X on it and it should work right?

I tried making the partiton a primary one. Still get the HFS+ partition error. Am I missing something?

Ok, I gave it another shot. This time OS selector didn't even try to boot from the parttition as it had the error "Boot partition is missing". Any help?

I also get a "MBR error 3" error when I start it up via VMware

Got it working! Problem was that I had to set it "active" again though Acronis as it must have disabled it whe nI de-activated the OS selector to give the boot.ini and chain0 trick agian.

BUT

I still have the same error as here http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=11912 Is there any way around this?
