RoyaRandom
I'm planning to build my first Hackintosh and I am unsure of what components to buy. Here are the list of several components. Please verify or give recommendations on which components are best for a Hackintosh. I've heard that Thermaltake Ultra Extreme is great, but newegg does not have them, I will have to get them elsewhere. Is there any other recommendations? MjP99
Well I have that exact Samsung drive from newegg working flawlessly in 10.5.5 retail. Nice and quiet and burns great using Toast 9. (Sata 22x DVD writer for $22? You can't beat that) Also, I have the 9800GTX+ working just flawlessly also. Keep in mind that with this card you need to have 2 6-pin PCI-E power connections. It comes with adapters, just in case. I love the card as I use it for gaming in Vista, but some say that you can overclock the G92 8800GTS and get the same performance. Keep that in mind as prices are falling on the 8-series cards. Have fun and good luck with the build! M

RoyaRandom
I'm most confused on which motherboard to buy. I checked out the wiki and it seems that GA-EP35-DS4, GA-EP35-DS3, & GA-EP35-DS3R works very well. I'm not sure about the P45s since i have seen mixed reviews about this board. What do you guys recommend?

What do you guys recommend? those having problems with the GA 45´s used patched versions. make a retail install and you won´t have many problems. installed two machines meanwhile on the GA-EP45-DS3.except sound what needed a patch everything worked ootb.here is a small help I wrote for that board http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry883119

Will it still be compatible with Vanilla kernel? Also, can I install it on a whole GUID hard drive without partitions? Thanks.

Thanks. with retail install you would install vanilla and you should keep it. the less partitions you have the less complicated.I wouldn´t install leo on anything else than GUID
RoyaRandom
I decided to get the P35, since I am still having doubts about the P45's stability and reliabilities. Therefore, which P35 should I get, DS3P/DS3R/DS4/etc?
