jfeger
Okay, I have searched for a few days. It seems several people have been looking for Orinoco, Lucent, Hermes, Agere drivers. Has anyone found something that works on any of those platforms? I have a Toshiba Sat Pro 1600 with the internal "Toshiba Wireless Lan" card. In linux, it is identified as Lucent/Agere, and workes with the orinoco_cs driver (Hermes). Once this is done, I am set. I have tried several different posts on the AppleAirPort2.kext, but I get errors on the kextload. I assume this is due to the kext not working in 10.4.5, or perhaps its not compatible with the 10.4.5 using the 10.4.3 IONetworking kext? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I think this Toshiba card is nothing more than a re-branded lucent/agere chip card. dman34usa
I'm trying to get either a Linksys WPC11 or Intel ProSet 2915g going on a DELL XPS M170. I'm ready to punt the ProSet route because it is so proprietary. I am running 10.4.3 and have noticed several posts about editing a variety of kexts but not sure where to begin. The ProSet works fine natively in Ubuntu for me using the ndiswrapper setup. I remember using the WPC11 in older notebooks with Redhat and Mandrake (now Mandriva) and the driver was orinoco(hermes). That's why I am looking at your post. I figure if I can get a PC Card to go in OS X I'll be happy. What have you done on various kexts? A lot of chatter talks about a IO80211Family.kext. I don't have that in 10.4.3, I'm wondering if it is only in 10.4.4 or 10.4.5. I've tried a variety of drivers from Orangeware, IOXperts, and Applexnet, but keep getting the attached error after I insert the card and go into System Preferences to configure it. Have you had any luck? tia D Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12797-wireless-orinocohermeslucentagere-in-1045-help-please/#findComment-88745 Share on other sites

docsyn
Okay,I have searched for a few days. It shows up in System profiler under PCMCIA cards, but not in the AirPort slot. ------------------------ 10AirPortPCI is not compatible with its superclass, 20IOEthernetController superclass changed? kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAirPort2.kext load failed for extension /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAirPort2.kext ----------------------- Here are various outputs of what I am running into: On boot (dmesg) Mar 21 15:40:01 localhost kernel[0]: Matching service count = 0 Mar 21 15:40:01 localhost kernel[0]: IOPCCard16Device::matchPropertyTable entered.
