AREA_51
I am running 10.4.5 as posted here http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=12519 Now it has been running fine the past couple of days and I have been having an interestering play around with it. Certainly different to Windows, and even very different to linux. Anyway one problem I have is when the machine is idle after abour 10 minutes the hard drive will spin down for a few minutes. And then spin back up. It will do this constantly util I start using the machine again. I was wondering if anyone knows how to stop it? Either stop the hard drive spinning back up when it shouldnt. Or better yet stop it spinning down completly. I have already unticked "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" in Energy Saver settings but is still spins the drive down. And I have also gone through all the BIOS settings looking for something but no lead there. So if someone can tell me how to completly stop the hard drive spinning down that would be appreciated. AREA_51
Have you disabled all power saving settings in the Bios? Yep. Tried all that. It is really annoying me as I have gone through all the steps you would normaly be expected to go through to disable it. I'm far away from my OS X 86, but you can try - sudo pmset -c disksleep 0 (quoted from http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.php?t=285847) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12758-how-do-i-stop-hard-drive-spin-down/#findComment-85021 Share on other sites
