psychofish25
I use ALC888 sound chips and I was wondering why my mic-in will not work. Is this a known problem? Thanks, Jordan

limini
Sometimes there are two mics on codecs: one is on the back plane and the other is on the motherboard for plugging into a front panel connection. I know that on the 889 chip, these are two distinct connections (ie there are TWO microphone inputs). It's likely that the active Mic port chosen by whatever driver you use is the motherboard's mic input as opposed to the back plane input. Other than finding an appropriate front panel connection for this mic, in theory the only other alternative is to try to remap the software pins so that the active mic is the back plane one. I say in theory, because you need a clear picture of the internal architecture of the driver to know what you're doing. I'm just starting to figure it out Check out MadTux's thread on modding your sound driver in this forum. Maybe that will work.
