aquadeluxe
Hello, I just installed Mac OS X 10.4.4 using the VMWare method. I did the thing about making it boot faster by making the Mac OS X partition the main one, now when i boot it just says HFS+ Partition Error and it won't boot into windows at all, i REALLY need help because I need to use the laptop. I was thinking maybe i have to reinstall windows or i could boot in an ubuntu live cd and do something. Thanks to anyone who can help. dripple
Just to be shure: you have installed Mac OS X to partition or extra drive, then reboot the whole machine (not only VMWare) and this error happens? I had / have the same problem and found this solution: I installed PowerQuest "BootMagic" and this allows me to select which system to boot (but this needs another small partion - abour 50 MB - to rely on). Funny and strange anyway: for me, only BTM works. If I use chain0, Bios-Switch or another boot manager, I get into an "HFS+ Partition Error"... Sounds strange, but with this I have a rock solid and reliable system running. ciao, dripple Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12702-hfs-partition-error/#findComment-80432 Share on other sites

-TiLT-
eXtended FDisk has a beautiful and easy tu plug in boot loader. I gave this a chance and it did a good job. HFS+ Partition Error gone Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12702-hfs-partition-error/#findComment-80577 Share on other sites
Neonkoala
I had this problem, I recommend downloading the free Universal Boot CD (UBCD) iso from the website. The non-linux one is quick and easy to use. Burn to disk then boot that CD. Choose the extended FDISK (or similarly named) and then use it to set your NTFS partition (Windows) as active. Reboot and it should boot windows. Other utilities on the disk can also be used to set the windows partition as active. aquadeluxe
i used the chain0 method and now it doesn't show the hfs+ partition error, but now it just blinks an underscore, does anyone know what to do to fix this, or should i use another bootloader like neonkoala said? abman
Thanks, the ultimate boot cd and extended fdisk fixed this problem for me as well! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12702-hfs-partition-error/#findComment-81095 Share on other sites
aquadeluxe
i already got it to work for windows as active now, but i just need a bootloader, i am looking into xfdisk and when i download it, it just has a bunch of files and i don't know what to do with them, if someone could show me how to use xfdisk that would be cool! abman
I used XFdisk off the ultimate boot cd. Its a bit big though if you just need XFDisk. Maybe you can make a startup disk and add xfdisk to it, then reboot with that and run it. If you didn't get an executible then you probably downloaded the source or something. EDIT: i reinstalled and it still says hfs+ partition error, i need to know what to do Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12702-hfs-partition-error/#findComment-81301 Share on other sites
ernando
I also experienced this hfs+ partition error. I tried to use xFdisk but still get the same error. Do I have to change the partition id from xFdisk boot manager menu ?
