Claisen
I'm running 10.4.5 right now (I used the 10.4.4 dvd that includes the 10.4.5 patch) and I'm wondering if I can get native ATI support for my Radeon 9800 Pro. Right now OS X is using the VESA driver. All features like QE and CI work just fine (minus some small artifacting here and there), but I'm assuming there will be some speed improvement if I can get the actual ATI drivers to work. I tried installing the actual ATI drivers but of course my card was not detected. I've read up about radeon9700.kext but I don't really understand what I need to do, and if it's even possible to use the native drivers to see an improvement from what I have right now. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. mr_christer
Right now there is no native support for most ati cards. i have a x300 and i'm happy that i have qe/ci enabled. I needed to patch the ATIRadeon9700.kext (koverg patch) and nowit works with some artifacting... It would be great to get wide screen, tv out and second monitor support, but I guess if you don't have the intel gma9xxonboard graphics controller you have to wait for a patch solution like me! The only thing I can recommend for your system is a speed boost! a nforce3 patch for your mainboard. don't have the url. just search the forum for the kext package... Does each x300 run with enabled CI/QE? I've got a 7800GTX, but I would like to enjoy CI/QE.. Does OpenGL run? so long..
