P0ptartz Posted September 13, 2008 Share Posted September 13, 2008 Hi everyone, I've been trying to install 8.5 on 10.5.2 but it's telling me the HostID is invalid. I can go into the about my mac and network preferences and find the mac address. It doesn't fail when I generate the key in the aw.dat. The licensing utility is telling me that the host identifier is invalid. I've read online that the newer versions of OSx86 don't recognize the ethernet devices as default or built-in (something like that) so the licensing utilities don't recognize them. I've installed the IONetworkingFamily.kext fix, but that seems to be for older versions. Is there an updated version for 10.5.2? If I do the old version it destroys my networking. Does anyone else have a solution? Thanks so much! Soul Ash Posted December 9, 2008 Share Posted December 9, 2008 Im running into the same problem with Maya 2008 Ive tried using the Aw.dat file that was created when i installed 2008 on my windows partition Im using a Dh Deluxe motherboard with the realtek usb2 driver 10.5.5 off of the Iaktos 5.1 dvd do i need to fiddle iwth my networking kext? hecker Posted December 10, 2008 Share Posted December 10, 2008 Usually you just have to make sure that the MAC address of your NIC in OS X is the same being used for the keygen.
