I installed MAC OS 10.4.5, and kextstat shows me that AppleAC97Audio driver has been loaded, but I still cannot find anything in the System Preference. The input/output device panel leaves blank.

How can I make my soundcard work properly??

thx

My soundcard is AC97 intergrated with Intel 855gm, the driver in WinXP shows me that it is SoundMAX.

MAC OS can load the driver AppleAC97IntelICH, when I just type

sudo kextload AppleAC97Audio.kext

I can't believe that it can't find any devices although the correct driver is selected and loaded.

thx

I am having the exact same problem w/ 2 seperate IBM desktops w/ the Integrated SoundMax.

Vendor 8086

Device 2445

The driver loads successfully, but I don't see an output device listed in System Preferences / Sound. Please help. I don't get it...?

Hi i got a c-media ac97, same problem in 10.4.4 - driver loaded, no sound still - device id is in appleac97audioVIA.kext didnt even have to change that so confusing to me why its still not working? There is no output in system preferences or profiler, nothing in bios seems to fix it either (re the soundmax fix) - what else can i try?

Chipset: VIA p4x266e with c-media 9738

Vendor ID: 1106

Device ID: 3059

(0x30591106 is in the kext as default so thats why its strange it doesnt "just work")
