Ok basically when I run the Myz 10.4.4/5 install DVD when I get to the volume selection screen I get nothing. I go on disc utility and all it lists is my main hard drive (windows) and my DVD drive. I have a SATA drive installed in a 5 1/2 inch drive caddy. The BIOS says the SATA drive is third IDE master (I think). What could be causing this?

Also, I have got it installed in vmware and I installed to the hard drive as a physical drive. If I boot that drive natively I get a message saying "still waiting for root device" but it does boot fine within Vmware.

Hope someone can help me out with this one.

Hi there...

I had a similar problem with the MYZ iso I downloaded. Not sure if your having the same issue but here's the solution I found.

On a certain torent site, I found the following patches that fixed a few issues (SATA support among them):

QUOTE:

Sorry I screwed up the permissions on the first ppf , Apply this ppf to fix sata support not working after reboot

To make it clear the steps are

1) original iso http://XXXXXXXXXXXX.org/details.php?id=3451287 md5 d0bcd93dd9b40b072dc4cc4c6111d0b0

2) Apply the first ppf http://XXXXXXXXXXXX.org/details.php?id=3457929, the md5 will become 66d15b0542eea2f8a047823e85265ab5

3) Apply this ppf the md5 will become 11406d017ce3d9d802d5feba0f240408

Get those 2 patches -- apply them to your MYZ iso using the included software -- reburn your image and your off and running. Reinstalled on my system (2 SATA drives) and it'S working fine.

Good luck.

Ok I fixed it. If you have this problem just install under VMWare then edit the AppleVIAATA.kext in the IOATAFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins folder. I had to add my device ID and it worked fine. There is a tutorial in the wiki about making nforce stuff worked, I picked from bits of that and it worked ok.
