As much as I like to consider myself a techy... I hate to admit I know next to nothing when it comes to something like this. So i'm asking for help. I've spent the better part of the last 3 hours or so reading through the forums here, and I noticed that several users (nevermind1331, and fireshark at least) have been successful in getting OSX going on their HP zv6000s... so I'm assuming that it can be done.

That said, I've got the following:

HP Pavilion zv6000:

----------------------

AMD64 3200+

ATI Mobility Xpress 200 series

1 gig ram

100 gig hard drive

DVD burner (and a stack of blank DVD-Rs)

I also have the "MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso", but when I try to boot from it it gets hung up on the white apple loading screen and a small circle with a slash through it comes up after a few moments. When I boot with "-v" I get a message saying something along the lines of "waiting for root device".... I've read through the thread here, but it quickly went over my head. Can anybody help me with a for-idiots-assuming-absolutely-nothing walkthrough with getting this thing to work? Any help with this would be greatly appriciated.

hey i have a zv6000 and got it booting great natively...however there are a few more steps you will need to go through to get it to work...check out this link and if you need anymore help after that send me an email at quickslvr1287@gmail.com and I can help you out through any more problems you may have

Hey quicksilver, thanks for the link... it took a couple tries (and more patience than I am usualy inclined to having) but I finally got it installed through VMWare! I just booted it up, and it looks great. No sound or internet connection yet, but I'll keep working on that. Thanks again for the help!

  • 5 months later...

I just finished setting up my ZV6130US laptop, all operational except QE/CI but it's really nice.

Let me know if you need anything so I can give back to this incredible forum!

I have modified several Kexts and I can even email them to you if you want.

Best regards,

Rayan
