Hi,

I'm using the Mac OS Rom update 1.0 from the apple site.

This is the .sheepshaver_prefs file:

disk /Users/hsphome/SheepShaver/SheepShaverHD

rom /Users/hsphome/SheepShaver/Mac_OS_ROM_update

extfs

screen win/800/600

keycodefile /Users/hsphome/SheepShaver/BasiliskII_keycodes

bootdrive 0

bootdriver 0

ramsize 268435456

frameskip 2

gfxaccel true

ether slirp

nonet false

nocdrom false

nosound true

nogui true

noclipconversion false

ignoresegv false

jit true

jit68k false

keyboardtype 5

ether slirp

keycodes true

mousewheelmode 1

mousewheellines 3

ignoresegv false

idlewait true

Just a quick question, I have never run sheepshaver or any other classic emulator before but I am interested in trying. I do have an old performa and os7,8,9 install disc's, is there a way to extract the rom image from them? If so how would I go about it? My old mac don't run no more so I can't use it. I have tried to google but haven't found anything useful so far. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I'm trying to set up SheepShaver under Mac OS X.

I copied the disk image file which I use for SheepShaver under Windows and I set up my prefs file as following:

rom /Volumes/HFS+\ 3.5GB/SheepShaver/newworld86.rom

disk /Volumes/HFS+\ 3.5GB/SheepShaver/Classic.HFV

extfs /Volumes/HFS+\ 3.5GB/SheepShaver/Share

screen win/1024/768

bootdrive 0

bootdriver 0

ramsize 67108864

frameskip 6

gfxaccel true

nocdrom false

nonet false

ether slirp

nosound true

nogui true

ignoresegv false

jit false

keycodes true

keycodefile /Volumes/HFS+\ 3.5GB/SheepShaver/keycodes.sdl

Can anyone tell me, if there's something wrong with the prefs parameters?

Maybe something I missed? For example, I edited the prefs.sample file with TextEdit and saved the changes under SheepShaver_prefs

Maybe I should have done the editing under Terminal?

I guess someone should give me some hints on how to set the thing up properly.

EDIT:

Ah, I guess I know what's wrong. It's just a little dot I forgot, but a very important one. I'll go and test if this helps.

EDIT#2:

No, this didn't help. I can't figure out how to rename the file via Terminal - it would be fine, if anybody could post the right command I have to use in this case.

In order for you to "extract" the rom, the computer has to be able to boot. Once it works I forgot the name of the program, but it extracts the rom to a .rom file, and your all set.

@cyman

You should use only forward slashes (/)in the config file.

You have to put the config file in your home folder.

Next, to rename the config file in the terminal you can use:

mv sheepshaver_prefs .sheepshaver_prefs

It moves "old file" to "new file"

(keep a copy of the config file somewhere else as well)
