Bryon80
Leopard is running fine, however the fan of my Ati X1950 Pro is extremely noisy. I never realized before _how noisy_ that thing is. Loud as hell if you ask me. I tried the natit_prionace drivers from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...88&hl=x1950, but they don't change the fan speed at all. Is there any way to regulate the fan speed in Leopard? Or does anyone know whether exchanging the standard fan with a better fan (like the Zalman GV1000) will lower the noise significantly? Thanks! Charon123
Hey, same problem here (until a few weeks ago, upgraded to 3870 /watercooled). Problem is, fan speed is hardcoded in vga-bios, and temperature sensitive. I guess CI/QE stresses the 1950Pro a lot, so temp is rising, so fan is making more noise. Maybe could be changed with biosflash, but not in OSX, as far as I know. Used RivaTuner in Vista to change fan speeds, but this seems not to be possible in good 'ol X. Bryon80
Well, I guess the best idea would be to get passive cooling for the thing. So I ordered an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev...will arrive tomorrow. I hope it doesn't overheat Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/124040-very-noisy-fan-radeon-x1950-pro/#findComment-878207 Share on other sites
