10012 Posted September 1, 2008 Share Posted September 1, 2008 Just bought a new MacBook and I can't figure out how to connect with ethernet (it's working perfectly well on my old PC). At first I kept getting a "self-assigned IP" problem- restarted a modem, the messege disappeared, however I still can't open a browser, the Internet and ISP signs show Fail in Network Settings. skyhighmac Posted September 1, 2008 Share Posted September 1, 2008 Go into system prefs, Network, click on ethernet in the left pane, make sure it says configure using dhcp.
