beagio
right, first off, i've searched the forums and have found that the only people having this problem have just installed OS X, where as i've had my 10.5.4 setup running for a while. i don't know where it's come from, but all i did was re-boot into vista, play dirt for a while and then attempt to re-boot into leopard. i havn't done anything to my OS X install. as i said before, all i did was re-boot. i've tried booting with -x, -f, -v and using my boot-132 cd, but with no luck. it loads the gray booting screen, gets to the blue pre-finder screen, the colour profile kicks in and then nothing. the mouse cursor is movable. i've also tried booting using a pre-patched install disc and reparing pwermissions on my boot drive. what gets me is the fact that their is no reason for this. i havn't installed an app or run apple update for a while. there's no reason anything should have got broken. i know it's not hardware related, because i can still get into vista :/

ameris_cyning
What is your monitor connection? VGA or DVI? If its VGA, get an adapter to hook it into the DVI slot.
beagio
fixed. i installed kalyway 10.5.2 to a spare hd and from there applied the 10.5.4 combo update to the non-working 10.5.4 install. i re-booted using my DFE 132 boot cd, patched the necessary kext's and voilà. i installed the combo as a hunch. if it hadn't had worked i would have done a full install of my retail OS X dvd. i have no idea what was broken, and how it got broken. all i can think of is that something got updated in the background or without me noticing. could possibly be beer related... i'm just glad that i didn't lose all my settings. took me ages to get leopard looking how i wanted it to look
