pscl227
well i have hung around these forums for a few weeks now, trying to get a general idea what i need to get started in making my first "hackintosh" and now i think i am ready to take the plunge, i currently own a small computer shop (but ironically all i use when i'm at home is macs!) so building the machine and getting the components is no problem at all. what i need to know is what you guys with all your experience would reccomend hardware wise to get? i would preferably like hardware that is 100% compaible if possible, and an accelerated g-card becasue i run a dual screen system and i run a few graphics intensive apps. thanks for the help, Paul Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12310-building-my-first-hackintosh/ Share on other sites

pscl227
i have been watchin that thread but he seems to be having problems with sound, and there is no mention of an accelerated video card? Bearcat
hmmm, the GMA950 is accelerated, but maybe you mean a dedicated video card. In that thread there are posts that show how to get audio working. There are currently no dedicated video cards that work 100%. pscl227
well here is my components list......... CPU: P4 Dual core 2.6Ghz "Smithfield" (only going pentium because i can get this processor super cheap) Motherboard: Need reccomendations for most compatible Graphics: ATI X1600 Pro RAM: 2 x 1GB Corsair PC5300 HD1: 120GB SATA-II (OSX install) HD2: 120GB SATA-II (WinXP insall) Monitors: 2 x Benq 1280x1024 LCD panels Right i already have the 2 monitors, the hard drives and the ram sitting around so i just need a reccomendation for the most compatible motherbaord around for that P4 chip, i am not bothered about having to do software hacks to osx to get it to work. also will that g card support under OSX 2 monitors? so what would you guys reccomend? I'm pretty sure it will not support anything other than mirroring (no desktop spanning). Also, you'll have mouse tearing. Even the x1600 is not fully supported. If you want to have a working dual monitor setup, you'll have to get an Integrated GMA900/950. declan
Well i was in your boat and decided on the below (see sig) and its as perfect as your gonna get, i beleive, everthing works 100%, and once better support is available for other gfx cards, i can simple add one and disable onboard gfx. Well its my perfect solution.. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12310-building-my-first-hackintosh/#findComment-79108 Share on other sites
