liverpool03
ok so i installed vmware on my pata hd. I created a VM on freebsd, normal settings cd-rom was pointing to my physically cd rom...when i run the VM and put in my 10.4.3 patched DVD...the darwin loader comes up and it tries to load the setup...but then i get a line like system/com.apple.boot.plist not found...and that's it...the screen stalls and i have to stop the VM...the DVD isn't the problem...i tried the same DVD and VM on my SATA HD and the mac os x setup booted perfectly...its just that it doesnt support nforce4 so i couldn't install it on that HD...any ideas as to why it's giving me that error? the PATA hd is a quantum fireball ata66 30 gig Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/12240-problem-installing-on-vmware/ Share on other sites

phor2zero
I'm not sure I understand your whole situation. you have a separate XP installation on that PATA hard drive? Anyway, I have the same error when booting from 10.4.3 JaS in VMWare, but hitting a key (f3? or any key?, can't remember) to enter the boot options menu, and then pressing "enter" to start booting works for me. Of course, I always enter -v as a boot option to see what's going on, in case theres another error. doesn't make much sense why simply opening the boot options prompt, without actually entering a boot option (or entering -v) would make any difference to finding com.apple.boot.plist, but it's a tip I got from someone else, and it works for me. (liverpool03: i'll reply to your pm later today.)
