icewolf08
Right, so I had for about the last year been running Tiger quite well on my Dimmension 2400 (P4 2.33/512). Originally used an Uphuck (10.4.9) install dvd. So, I decided that It was time to try to upgrade to Leopard. I tried the iATKOS 2.0i installer with a successful install, but then on reboot all I got was a black screen with a blinking cursor. I have been reading the forums all day and trying anything that seems like it could be related or help, but so far, after 4 install attempts (with reformats in between) I still get the same thing. I am in the process of downloading the Kalyway image to try, but if anyone has any suggestions, or wants any more specific details, I would love the help. EDIT: Some other additional notes. I don't know if it is normal, but the iATKOS install took significantly longer than the previous Uphuck install. Also, there were points where it looked like the progress bar stopped (including its internal animation) and then when I moved the mouse it jumped ahead. icewolf08
Let's see, finished the download of the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD, burned to disc and then tried to boot. Well, now I am stuck in a boot loop, and it won't boot to the disc. So My next course of action is to try the iDeneb installer and the Leo4All, but if there are any other suggestions on how to make this work that would be great, I suppose otherwise I will just revert back to 10.4.9, but that would make me sad. MGJulius
On iATKOS did you install the bootloader? That could be the reason for the blinking cursor
icewolf08
I did install the bootloader, I think the iATKOS issue was that it is SSE3 only, and I think that my Dell is only SSE2 (at least that seems to be what the System profiler was saying with 10.4.9 installed). So, I moved on to trying the iDeneb installer and it installed fine, got a success message, and now I have got stuck in a boot loop. This is fun and frustrating at the same time... As always, any suggestions are welcome.
