OrangeJuice
So I started tinkering with the HP Remote on a dv6775us. Initially I thought that the IR receiver on the computer would work with an Apple Remote, but 15 seconds with my MacBook proved that wrong. As most of you are aware the direction buttons and the ok buttons work fine. So after tinkering I realized that it is 100% hardware based solution and acting like keyboard switches. That stated I discovered the << and >> buttons actually interface as a series of buttons. That in mind you can use the OS X software ControllerMate to establish a boolean switch that will execute the Apple+Esc when multiple buttons are pressed simultaneously (corresponding with the buttons of either << or >>). I did have to program a slight buffer to keep the button from being repeatedly pressed (otherwise you cannot go "back" in Front Row it just exits), but anybody with a basic knowledge of boolean terms and/or flow charts should have no real issues. Daft_Punk
O. M. F. G. Thank you SO much. I made a post earlier asking if ANYONE had a solution. Tried a few apps, but they didn't work. I am SO glad you found a solution. This is just plain {censored} awesome news for HP dvXXXX users (I have a dv9540us ) I really can't say how much I feel great about this, so I will award a picture to you. After all, they say a picture is worth a thousand words! and hell, y not another one? Memorial
This is nice, but it would be awesome if it was possible to use all those other wonderful buttons. The buttons on the HP remote such Play/Pause, stop, volume controls, QuickPlay launcher, DVD, Windows Media Center key, and switch to external monitor (the latter being a beast of its own) are all non-keyboard inputs and ControllerMate seems useless here. I am interested int getting those to work as well (well volume and sleep work), but I so far have had no luck in understanding how they work.
